Official Logo for GP of America

    Here it is....

    http://formula-one.speedtv.com/artic...official-logo/

Let's see, we've got the Statue of Liberty in there, which was given to us by France. France is the home of the FIA.

Hmm, given the sometimes apparently shaky status of the race, I think this is just a ploy to curry favor with the FIA.

Nah, just joking. I think it really is a cool logo. As the article goes on to say, sometimes you get it just right.

That has to be the logo for the street circuit. I don't think that I've ever seen an official logo for an F1 race.

The ones I see on television all the time are the simple italicized text logos that you see at the podium.

Bernie's TV deals don't require broadcasters to use the GP logos.

Every track I've been to through out the world sell event merchandise & many sell gear with the track's logo.

So... what's the opinion, do folks think the Austin race will actually happen then?

This thread is about the 2013 New Jersey based USGP....

...or are you just asking a Texas based TF member about Austin? Not being a jerk... just really a tad confused

Hey ArrowZ46, I'll bite anyway....United States Grand Prix, Grand Prix of American...it's so confusing.

Yeah, I think the Austin F1 race is a go (at least for one year). New Jersey? 50/50.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh... my bad. I thought this was for the Austin race. lol. I was so confused with the whole Statue of Liberty thing. I'd say Austin is about 95% a "go" and why it's the first thing I think of with F1 in America.... I seriously doubt the NJ race happens, but I'd love to see it!

For the record, when posting here most of the time, the scenario is something like - I am waiting in a client's lobby, texting with my son who just got home from school and typing here at TF on a teeny tony iPhone screen.

Yeah Austin is going to happen this year without a doubt. We'll see about the future though.

The Grand Prix of America...is NOT at the Circuit of the Americas.

I'm sure that won't confuse people at all.

Perhaps Austin promoters will go all Vegas on us & build scaled down, iconic landmarks at the CotA's grounds A mini State of Liberty in turn 3 or 4?

Looks a little cheap and pandering to my tastes, but then again, nationalism matters to some people, so meh.

I bet the logo for the Austin race will have a cowboy on his horse... maybe on a rise looking down on the track.

None at Spa in 2007... don't recall the details on the controversy at the time, but that sucked!

Wow! Spa is a track gearheads would want logoed merchandise from... Don't know what was up in '07 but they have an online store now

The Spa 24 has a very sweet logo IMO... here it is on the event poster.

The 2012 United States Grand Prix will be held just outside of Elroy, Texas, just slightly southeast of Austin, not far from the airport. They have a logo, a really crappy one if you ask me. You can see it here, but don't say I didn't warn you.

The Circuit Of The Americas (crappy name- Steve's Racing Center would have been better) race car track is just north of the First Baptist Church of Elroy, Gary's Cars For Less, and Wild Bubba's Wild Game Grill, home of the best wild game burgers in Texas.. The final paving of the Austin racing surface was begun August 10th. Now, all that needs to happen is for Travis County to widen the 2-lane, no shoulder, Elroy road, and you might even be able to get to the track. Park downtown and take the shuttle.

If you want to eat at Wild Bubba's, better get there before race weekend.

There's a race in New Jersey? Huh, whuddaya know... anyways, as far as
"Austin promoters will go all Vegas on us & build scaled down, iconic landmarks at the CotA's grounds A mini State of Liberty in turn 3 or 4? "
Huh? "Scaled down" and Texas don't go together. Our state capitol is taller than the one in the District of Columbia, and the San Jacinto Monument is taller than the Washington Monument. If we were to buld a Statue of Liberty replica, it would be larger than the original. But we won't. That would be presumptuous and arrogant, and not befitting a Texan.

Tx, what do you think the chances are of the county actually widening the road before race day?

Yep, they got Red Bull doing promotion for the race & everything (just like they did it for the CotA's a few months back)

^ Oh, I think they'll get something done... but they'd better get with it.

Elroy Road, on the north side, is two lanes (one in each direction) and no shoulder. FM 812, on the south side is two lanes with shoulders. My understanding is that they're going to make them one-way roads for the race. All the parking will be off-site, except for Premium ticket holders, with access via shuttles, with no walk-ins or cash parking.

Here's some info, including a map.

This one has the proposed rules and one-way items listed.

IF you're really a gluten for punishment, read the draft Traffic Management Plan.

Thanks, Tx. Interesting stuff. Yes, I like my punishment so I read the traffic plan. Sounds like it could be a little messy.

    Austin/RedBull...

Nice. Running F1 on a dirt track works for me. Thanks for posting these.
