The
2012 United States Grand Prix will be held just outside of Elroy, Texas, just slightly southeast of Austin, not far from the airport. They have a logo, a really crappy one if you ask me. You can see it
here, but don't say I didn't warn you.
The Circuit Of The Americas (crappy name- Steve's Racing Center would have been better) race car track is just north of the First Baptist Church of Elroy, Gary's Cars For Less, and Wild Bubba's Wild Game Grill, home of
the best wild game burgers in Texas.. The final paving of the Austin racing surface was begun August 10th. Now, all that needs to happen is for Travis County to widen the 2-lane, no shoulder, Elroy road, and you might even be able to get to the track. Park downtown and take the shuttle.
If you want to eat at Wild Bubba's, better get there before race weekend.
There's a race in New Jersey? Huh, whuddaya know... anyways, as far as
"Austin promoters will go all Vegas on us & build scaled down, iconic landmarks at the CotA's grounds A mini State of Liberty in turn 3 or 4? "
Huh? "Scaled down" and Texas don't go together. Our state capitol is taller than the one in the District of Columbia, and the San Jacinto Monument is taller than the Washington Monument. If we were to buld a Statue of Liberty replica, it would be larger than the original. But we won't. That would be presumptuous and arrogant, and not befitting a Texan.
