    I met Gary Brooker

Saturday I went to a Procol Harum concert in San Diego. Since I knew where the 'green rooms' were for the artists, I took my poster of their 1972 concert with me and stood within view of his room.

He noticed it and came out for a close inspection. I told him my story about attending the concert at the end of my three month European hitchhiking adventure---an act which caused me to miss my flight home but was well worth it.

His entourage enjoyed seeing this bit of memorabilia and one of them snapped this photo and e-mailed it to me. Mr. Brooker was gracious, considering he looked as if he just got up from a nap, and signed the glass for me.

Procol Harum and Pink Floyd will always be my favorite groups. A Whiter Shade of Pale lives in my soul.

Mr. Brooker has a sense of humour with a bit of acid in it.
He commented at the concert that it had been some time since they played in Mexico...

You got to stand in the presence of...greatness. Awesomeness.

    Did you shake his hand?

He's probably shook Kate Bush's hand too, he's guested on her last several records...so, by connection, you have also touched the Mistress herself...

There's so many directions to go with that one... it makes me think I'm being set up.

    "Shake his hand?"

    Actually, I chose not to.
He was wearing wrist bandages which lead me to believe that his profession has taken a toll on him.

I reckon it has. I know Keith Emerson has had work done on his wrists.
