    "one of the reasons why
I got into this series in the first place, where you could run so
close to each other for so long and out-race a guy".

I guess Tony hasn't been watching the IRL in a while?

Tony must be pretty confident he'll be with Ganassi next year.

Gee, I wonder if the #20 car will have some problems with tech inspection the rest of the season. Or will one of the Bodine brothers take their battered cars and ram him for Mr. France, since they can't do anything from a racing standpoint.

Careful where you wave that around.

Just kidding out to the Bodine's, but thats definetly for another...

I loved the D.W. comment that was great. It gives me a whole 'nother appreciation for Tony

Should he choose to come back, I guess its Gordon all the way. Dale Jr. too. I just don't think there's anything cooler than a driver runnin' an INDY car!!

Has Stewart been living under a rock or what?
Corporate america took hold in the '80's and started dictating how things are. They even ran Jr Johnson off.

The bottom line is when you take the mans money he owns you, that is if you want to keep getting the money.

Now if there was some way to race without the suits being involved?

Bonneville That's it, the salt flats of Bonneville where racers still race because they love it. No giant crystal trophy, no oversize bottle of champagne, no oversize check, **** no check period. Just motorheads having fun

Hey, how about a Bonneville/dry lakes etc. board?

EFI Flathead Ford pumping out over 600hp going for 400mph.

Stock Boss 429 going for 200MPH record.

Don't know what that is supposed to mean. Todd is one of the most underrated drivers on the circuit and Geoff has proven he is one of the best to ever strap into a stock car.

What it means is that over the years the Bodines have developed a proclivity for crashing. In Geoff's ( excuse me ,Geoffry ) case , I've personally seen him tear up enough Modifieds , Late Model Sportsman (although Tommy Ellis did help him tear up a couple of Zervakis' cars ! ) and WC cars to bankrupt Bill Gates .

My wife , who doesn't care for race cars with fenders ( God love her ! ) will ask from the other room when she hears a crash in a WC event "Bodine or Pressley?" without even hearing who was involved . More often than not , she's right.

As for Jaws , once the career started to tail off a bit , he became "good 'ol DW ". When he was at the top of his game he was the most disliked S.O.B. on the track , mostly due to his own mouth. DW is probably the only guy in WC to have talked himself out of rookie of the year. When DW entered WC , the R.O.Y. wasn't determined by points , but selected by NASCAR . Although DW had a better year , he ran his mouth so much they gave the award to Lennie Pond .

"Unfortunately, in this day and age, it's about dollars and sense, not what's good for the race fans, what's good for the competitors, not what's good for everybody else involved, just what's good for them."

I think the writer meant to write "dollars and cents"...I don't see Stewart saying he is going anywhere

Now, having said all that, this thread belongs on the NASCAR forum...oh wait, it's bashing NASCAR, therefore...

Thats an insult to a great champion. Darrell may have had a big mouth, but he was respectful to the sport, fans and media. He helped grow NASCAR while Tony is giving it a black eye(though NASCAR isn't exactly helping its own case either).</STRONG>
....Stewart isn't giving NASCAR any black-eye, they're doing fine in that category all by themselves. Just telling it like it is,....which as he stated is something that alot of the driver's are scared to say.

As much as Tony makes an arse out of himself with his mouth, it's also refreshing & courageous to hear him tell things like they are.....and this comes from someone who is not really a fan of his.
My first Indy 500 was 1973, haven't missed one since 1981. To date I have attended 35 Indy 500's, and probably 100 or so other IndyCar races (CART & IRL).
