Talladega Pick 5: post picks by Friday @ 2:30 TF time

It is time to post your choices for the upcoming NASCAR Talladega race. The deadline to get your picks in is 3:30 ET (2:30 TF time) on Friday, October 19th, 2001. Late entries will not be accepted.

    Please pick:
    Pole winner
Driver leading the most laps during the race
    Finishing positions 1-5

Please specify between Jeff Burton and Jeff Gordon, Elliott Sadler and Bill Elliott, Ward & Jeff Burton, Bobby and Terry Labonte, or anywhere else where confusion could arise!

The contest is open to anyone who wants to try. If you know someone else (wife, son, s.o.) who wants to play but not join us, you may post for them separately but labeled clearly.

Previously I said that no prize would be awarded here and if you wanted one you could go to the IRL contest. However, you can no longer win love and affection at the IRL contest since the IRL season is over. So I guess I'll have to award a prize for the NASCAR Pick 5 winner. Prize will be: adoration and renown.

    Points are awarded as follows:

*1 point for the pole winner
1 point for correct lap leader
    5 points for correct winner
    4 points for correct second
    3 points for correct third
    2 points for correct fourth
    1 point for correct fifth

*By time trials only. If quals are cancelled and the field is determined by entrant standings then no points will be awarded for the pole.

Scoring is like horse racing ... if your guy finishes at or higher than you pick him, you get points for the position you picked him to finish. (example: you pick Ricky Rudd to finish third and he wins, you get three points). If your driver finishes in a position lower than you picked him, you earn ZERO points for that driver. (example: you pick Sterling Marlin to finish 4th, but he finishes 5th, you get no points for that pick).

A full list of the rules is posted here. These rules are for the IRL contest so it uses IRL examples. Just substitute the word "NASCAR" for IRL in the rules. To view the entry list, click here.

    Good luck,

I like this week... i can pick the dodges and not look like a fool =) Heres my ALL Dodge top 5 =)

    Pole: Stacy Compton
    Laps: Bill Elliott

    1st: Bill Elliott
    2nd: John Andretti
    3rd: Sterling Marlin
    4th: Ward Burton
5th: Buckshot Jones (after the top 4... )

    =)

And for my darkhorse Winning Pick.. If i wasn't such a dodge homer ... watch out for Mike Wallace .. He's been strong in all three previous super speedway races. and he has the #12 car running real well right now.. It would not be a shock at all if he was able to avoid the big one and pick up his first career win.
