I don't see any reason for ABC to mess with the line-up too much.

Yawn will head back to his mountain retreat. Page will probably be the CART guy in their alphabet of networks.

Parker will wind up on Speedvision or something.

As long as Paul is nowhere near the IRL or the IMS, huge progress will be made. This person never was, and never will be anything but a drag on open wheel racing, and I believe the rating decline since he was at the helm verify this.

His promotion to the voice and face of Indy Car racing was a monumental flop, and I believe it was a major contributing factor for the malaise in open wheel IMO. Thankfully, the IRL's broadcast team has found it's feet and are currently some of the best in the bidness.

Maybe Paul could return to WIBC and do local traffic reporting from the whirlybird again, and possibly a turn 2 assignment on raceday. Certainly nothing more.

On the whole, I hope that CART can retain Johnstone and Beekhuis. They're ever so much better than Jack "Greg-Ray-has-only-2%-body-fat" Arute and Jason "On-cold-tires-at-Laguna Seca" Priestly. I can take or leave Paul Page, but at least he's enthusiastic and less of a shill than Bob "It's a sell out crowd" Jenkins.

Really, I like Paul Page's screaming. When I have a CART race on for background noise I can count on Page to let me know when to peek at the tv.

The IRL crew is great, but they dont convey "excitement" anywhere near as well as Page. (But please dont let him talk any other time except during on track passes.)

What do you mean? That a pass on a tight street course “parade” is not impressive? And that we should get more excited out of the dozens of meaningless lead changes on large ovals leading up to the end of the race? It's definitely easy to recognize the level of difficulty and required talent involved in each. Excluding Indy, I don’t see TV ratings for ovals from either series leading me to believe that the viewing public is overly eager for OW ovals. If you equate the quality of the product to the number of lead changes when comparing ovals to street courses, then you will do well with the IRL. Personally, my taste requires more driver skill.
