    Double Standard?

I'm an IRL fan,but was very happy with Helio's win at Indy.My question is this:How come Marlboro's colors were taken off the car,but Winston sponsors both the NHRA and NASCAR circuits as well as Angelle Savoie's pro stock bike team? The law has not stopped them.It seems unfair that your team's sponsor didn't get the proper exposure.

There is no double standard. The tobacco companies signed an agreement with the government that limits their sponsorship exposure in motorsports to one series. And even though Penske's lawyers thought that they could run Indy in Marlboro livery--in addition to the season long program in CART--because its an "invitational" event, the Feds thought otherwise.

If there's no double standard, explain the Winston disparity here. I'm curious myself.

Ending a sentence with a preposition is something I will not put up with.

I thought that Winston had to pull out of NHRA sponsorship after this year or next because of the tobacco settlement. This was to give the NHRA enough time to find a new title sponsor.
    It's a Hoosier thing, you wouldn't understand...

The tobacco companies were allowed to honor all existing contracts, but can only renew for one series.

Once the NHRA contract expires, they'll have to either not renew, or cancel NASCAR.

The Feds had nothing to do with it. The agreement concerning sponsorships is with a coalition of state attorneys general (the National Association of Attorneys General or NAG) who had sued for Medicaid reimbursments.

The tobacco companies have an older separate agreement with the Feds (FTC, FCC) to "voluntarily" withhold tobacco ads from TV and radio.
