Great team considering their limitations. (i.e. They were told not to hire Paul, Parker, Jon and Gary)
I don't like Derrick Daly, and don't know much about Calvin Fish, but I'm definately looking forward to TK full time!
Good bunch; an articulate and knowledgable crew.
Nothing to complain about here.![]()
Good lineup! I was expecting worse, and am pretty happy with the announcers and pit reporters that we have.
It is good to see Tommy Kendall back doing CART broadcasts, although I would much prefer to see him behind the wheel of a racecar than commentating...
I am glad they couldn't or wouldn't hire Parker. Personally I think that if one of the guys in the booth is the race guy he should have at least won a race in that series. Pruett is a much better choice. JMO

Very strong crew. I think I'm one of the people who actually likes Varsha, and kendall and Pruett are great (although I'd like to see Scooter as Cart's chief steward). I'm not a big fan of Derek...Fish is kind of a wanker.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Pruett will be in the pits, while Tommy Kendall (who has never even raced a champ car) will be in the booth.
Having heard both on broadcasts and listened to both on the scanner when they were posted over T5 at Road America, I say more Tommy, less Scotty.
I'm a Scooter fan, but he just isn't ready yet. It took him waaaay too many takes to get the opening for the RA race done right. Although, it did have the funniest moment of the weekend. Scooter was standing at the apex of T5 showing the water on the track. In the middle of his bit, the Jet dryer drove by, with the jet aimed towards Scott. I bet he's still drying off. (His scream, and the booth's laughing is somethign I wont forget any time soon.)
Make that at least six, because I now have speed_____(fill-in-the-blank) on Dish Network!Originally posted by Railbird:

I always liked the job Varsha did in the past.
I wonder if this means a new crew for the F1 broadcasts, or if someone else (ABC, ESPN?) will be doing F1 this year?
Because I now have Speed-whatever, it will probably go to some other channel I don't get!!!

Daly is a self-absored schmuck who loves to talk about himself.
Other than that, sounds like a good crew.

Hands down a better crew than the IRL.
I really like Tom on the other Speedvision stuff. He is cool because you can feel his excitement when he does the CART stuff.
Varsha is pure class and very smooth. Very GOOD choice. I'm ambivalent about the others. Calvin used to grate on my nerves a tad when the IRL was on the Fox regional networks for that 15 minutes a few years back.
Who's the crew for CBS for these rumored handful of races? Same guys?
Looks like a great lineup - especially Derek Daley, who is probabaly one of the best in the business. One thing, exactly who is Calvin Fish? Didn't he used to play second base for the Phillies?
Calvin is a former driver - Atlantics etc. Really a pretty good guy - knowledgable and makes a concerted effort to get in the garage and talk with the guys.
Daly can be the "Posey" of the bunch - somebody for the others to pick on![]()
I can't believe they could not get Jack Arute.![]()

Not only was Calvin Atlantic Champion, he also was the only driver to beat Senna in the British F3 series with I believe five wins and something like eighteen second place finishes(they ran two races per event weekend). Davey Jones, Martin Brundle and several other "name" drivers competed that year ('82 or '83). He also won three or four races in Indy Lights in 1988. Very far from a wanker.
