    Speed Channel Coverage

Speed News did a great job covering CART news regarding Alex Zenardi and the Team Kool Green efforts to run at Indy.

I'm looking forward to CART's coverage on Speed Channel this year.

I'm not going to get into a debate about who has a better deal (ie IRL/ABC or CART/Speed) but it appears Speed is willing to give CART much attention.

For the minority of us that get Speedwhatever it is going to be a great season of live coverage.

Living here in the Motorsports Capital of the Universe I am amazed that I receive this kind of high quality live coverage for free.

You, me, JoeBob and deFender will all be able to witness Townsend Bell's qualifying efforts while having no worries about being pre empted by coach Bobby and his dribbling dandies.

I agree, the added coverage of qualify and practice is what really makes me excited about seeing CART on Speed Channel.

The race is important but the bonus coverage (ie practice & qualifying) is what adds value to the sponsors, teams, drivers, & CART. It also provides me as a fan more information in these 4 areas.

I'm beginning to think I'm talking to myself on this thread but Speed Channel announced they will show every Toyota Atlantics race this year.

Look at how much time Speed Channel is dedicating towards CART's first race weekend starting on March 8th.

    Here's a break down:
    March 8th:
    9-10:30pm CART Qualifying (re-aired 2am)
    10:30-11pm CART Friday Night (re-aired 3:30)

    March 9th:
    12:30pm-1pm CART Friday Night
    7:30-8pm CART Friday Night
    8pm-9:30pm CART Qualifying
    9:30pm-10:30pm Toyota Atlantic Series

    March 10th
    3:30-4pm CART Pre-Race
    4pm-6:30pm CART Race
    8:30-11pm CART Race (re-aired)

Even if the quality of the coverage does not improve, I am looking forward to a season knowing there will be no pre-empted broadcasts, no late starts to a race already in progress and hopefully with the increased time no quick cut aways to another sport.

I'm sure it will seem odd at first to not have Page and Johnstone jabbering at us but in time the new crew will seem like old friends.

Wonder if ESPN will be allowed into the track for interviews? )
