I know who! Just not sure of where or when? Please help.

Welcome racefans! I was sent this pic of Swede Savage from Gary Savage. Before I put it on the Swede site I was wondering if any of you experts out there knew anything about it? Gary said it was taken at Sebring in 1969 and that Swede beat out Mario for the pole with this car which was powered by a Plymouth. http://swedesavage42.tripod.com/where-when.html
I went to the Sebring site and could not find anything on it. What class was it? It looks like a Formula A or Formula 5000 Eagle but don't know? I knew later there was the Tasman series, but what was it then? If you know anything PLMK. Thanks for the EXTRA cool pic Gary!
Any little detail would be appreciated!

Certainly looks like an Eagle. See this picture of "Tony Alphabet":

At the risk of stealing Allen Brown's thunder, there was only one Formula A race at Sebring in 1969. This was Round 13 of the L&M Championship, on Dec 28th.

    Hope this helps!

    Good site, BTW!

Great! Thanks for the info. Do you know if it is true Swede started on the pole? Where'd he finish? Hey thanks SOOOOOO much. I couldn't find anything on this. I looked at your pic of Tony AtoZ and I could swear that the picture was taken at turn 7 as the cars turn onto the back straight at Riverside Raceway in California. The guardrail looks just like the old stuff at RIR as does the turn. I just read the Bio on Tony AtoZ in a racing greats encyclopedia published in 73. Thanks for checking out my Swede Tribute. Feel free to link to it on the free-to-link Link Page.
    Thanks again.

I got the date info from Allen Brown's site:
    www.oldracingcars.com

At the moment he doesn't have any F5000 results up and running, but he may have the details you're looking for:

Swede was driving a F5000 Eagle Mk 5 with a Plymouth engine. Mario was driving the new Lotus 70.

It is my intention to get F5000 results on the site at some point but it's unlikely to be less than a few months.
