Does that say CART or IRL? Or has this become the CART board?

Settle down...before too long, it won't matter.

Why does everybody get their boxers in a wad over a post like this on the IRL forum?Originally posted by Novi-:

You can hardly discuss IRL without mentioning CART and vice versa. We are currently experiencing what has the potential to be one of the most defining moments in open wheel racing in a generation, yet people want to split hairs over which forum it gets posted on.
Sheesh!!![]()
Center Grove Trojans
2008 5A Football State Champs
2011 Track State Champs
Technically, it's posted on the CART forum. I posted a link to it here, since Kenny is an Indy champ, etc. and since he wants CART to switch to IRL specs!!!
Discussion is on the CART forum, while promo is on the IRL forum as well. Any other questions?
I think we need a new forum. Maybe CARTIRL or ICARTRL or CAIRLRT. For those topics that seem to blend both series. I'm guessing that we will see more and more of them over the next year.Originally posted by rev-ed:

I look to the IRL board for incite/talk etc. about the IRL. It seems as though in order to read a quality IRL post you have to sift through 10 about ex-drivers, Cart this or that, if Cart teams run the IRL, Cart drivers, what's going to happen to OW racing.....to get 2-3 IRL specific. It's relative if it's allowed to be relative.
It would seem the way to approach this "so called split" especially from an IRL marketing standpoint, it would be:
There never was a split just a new OW oval series started that's built around the 500.
The "split" is something the media AND CART started and all the talk here and anywhere else just perpetrates the mith of a split and does nothing positive for the IRL, but does keep CART attached to Indy.
If this is truely a board that is pro-IRL, and well it should be, then the admins and mods are doing a disservice to the IRL by allowing this talk to go on. It's been 6yrs since the IRL started. I say enough is enough, get over it.
The talk of a "new series" had been going on for at least 10 + years before it became reality, call it the planning years and waiting for the right time to start it up. I find it hard to believe the business geniuses
from CART had no clue what was going to happen, the writing was on the wall for years prior to the startup of the IRL. If they cared about their own, they would have been making their own contigency plans during that time to carry on in the event the new series did come about. What did they think: when this new series stated they would give CART the 500? If the 500 was so important to CART they could have made changes within their organization to assure the continued running of the 500 as it once was. They chose to ignore the signs and are now reaping the benefits of their actions or in-actions. You snooze you loose.
Of the top 10 post from, How will this ll play out on down, 2 are IRL specific(Penski testing IRL cars and IRIPS), 4 a bunch of CART/IRL hyperbole.
There have been more than one post like this completely removed to other boards without links left. Maybe a post about what an ex-IRL driver says about the IRL isn't that bad, but added to all the other posts associated with CART etc. (or not IRL specific) and it doesn't leave much about the going ons with the IRL.
What's going to happen to OW racing happened 6yrs ago. A new series emerged and now their are 3 OW series 1 an all oval, 2 road race. If they all succeed or any fail it's because of how they handle their own doings.
Do the IRL and fans of the IRL a favor and quite perpetrating the split B.S. and all the attempted associations with CART.

I agree with most of what Novi said..... IRL board for IRL and CART board for CART stuff.
Except,,, why did Novi talk so much about CART when he was telling others they shouldnt?![]()
Someone should have the proffesional courtesy to inform railbird he may not agree with some things said,,, but IT'S CART realted.![]()
"OWRS did not return phone calls."
Novi - Whether you like it or not, the CART engine specs and the specifics of how Penske and Ganassi will be possibly switching series directly affect the IRL. Don't pretend that the only threads here that pertain to the IRL are about current IRL teams and drivers.Originally posted by Novi-:

By that reasoning, we shouldn't have allowed Johnny Herbert threads this summer because that had nothing to do with the IRL. . . oh, that's right, Herbert DID almost run an IRL race. Maybe we shouldn't allow any Penske or Ganassi talk. . . oh wait, Penske ran two IRL races this year and at least that many in 2002. Chip made Indy and will again. I don't know how you can stretch your ideas enough to claim that mentioning Kenny Brack can be a disservice to the IRL.
C'mon Novi, if you can't handle an IRL thread that mentions CART, be more selective about which threads you open. If you can't handle an IRL with CART involvement, best find another racing series to support. The days of complete independence are over.
Looks like this thread has twisted it's way into Feedback. . .
