Where have all the movies gone!

I just finished watching High Noon on AMC and I thought to myself why can't movies of the caliber made produced today? I've probably watched High Noon 15 or 20 times and always find it to be incredible. The story, the acting and everything else combined makes for a real (or reel) classic!
    Have a very blessed day!

They had to "DUMB" them down for todays "SOFISTICATED" young audience - "JACKA$$" was just released on DVD, speaking of "classics."

    And they wonder "WHY?"

Thank goodness for channels like AMC to show what quality REALLY is like.

I'll make you, and just you, a deal. Go see it and take the wife. If you think it sucks, I'll donate the ticket price to Brian's Wish in your name. Limit; $20.

    OK?

I just watched "The Birdcage" recently.
LMAO all the way thru. Very different role for Robin Williams but he played a gay
straight man ( pun intended) to Nathan Lane very very well. I highly recommend it.
Lots of laughs and some funny pokes at left and right wingers alike.

Ah, yes, The Shawshank Redemption. The one movie in existence which both my 16-year-old stepdaughter and I like.

If that doesn't speak for its greatness, I don't know what does.

I must really be getting old. I all but quit watching AMC when they all but forgot about the older movies in the evening hours and loaded up with commercials.

I do more TCM nowdays because no commercials and they have a better evening variety. Tonight they have "Bridge on the River Kwai" tonight.

I watched "Birdman of Alcatraz" a few weeks back again and see your point clearly, PHJIndy. This was a great movie with some violence, but they didn't need to embelish the blood, gore and special effects to get the point of the movie across. I would be a little afraid to see a remake of that movie today.

Try "A simple plan", "Fargo", "Sling Blade"(it's not what you think. Hard to believe that's Billy Bob.), I just saw another one not too long ago with Kevin Spacey called "Pass it along" I think. Great feel good movie.

My favorites are movies that tell story's. Good acting and something my kids and I can watch. You're right PHJ, just not that many good movies coming out of Hollywood these days. Too many remakes of TV shows or old movies that weren't very good to begin with.
