I walked in on the opening news here and it was reported that 700 lbs. of dynomite was stolen last night from a location in northeast Houston. Orange tubes 4" in diameter, 4-5 feet long. I didn't hear a quote on the number of tubes stolen. I'm waiting to see if they will give any updates during the newscast. None so far.
i wish the american media wouldnt blow everything out of proportion and relate it to terrorism, directly or indirectly. im sick of the sensationalism and scare tactics aimed at the elderly in order to sale more papers and ad time......
in my hometown we had a lot of quarry holes, and the hilljacks would break into the dynamite lockers on a weekly basis for use as fishing "bait"........
heck, my high school had numberous anthrax and bomb threats when i went there years ago. but thanks to the media, anthrax is a new buzzword, and the public is convinced that is is a new "super virus with no cure that can wipe out millions"...that is so wrong.

Actually, the explosives missing are ~700 lbs. of shaped charges and ~300 blasting caps. They were stolen from a portable explosives locker operated by a seismic exploration company. As I understand it, these charges are similar to, if not the same as, the type used in demolition. I hope it's just somebody messing around, but the events of these days do make one pause and think.
