Two things.
1. When I saw this thread I thought it was about the tasty treat I got outside the track year before last, during the rain delay. It was beef and like a shish ka bob but meat only. I didn't find any inside the track but I saw people coming in with them and back tracked.
2. These do sound darned good. Which is a surprise to me, since you Hoosiers are always touting those White Castle grease things as hamburgers.![]()
Some people will do nearly anything in order to be able to not do anything.

Not sure I want to know the answer. But I just wrote Edwards down on my arm and I'll plan on checking them out this May. Incidentally, I was just talking with a business associate in Tennessee today who is formerly from Indiana and was bemoaning the lack of tenderloins in Tennessee. (Incredibly long story how we came to be discussing tenderloins. You had to be there.) Then I come home and find this thread running.Originally posted by dog-ring:

Thanks PHJ, I was racking my brain for the restaurant name of my fav loin spot on the east side on Washington St. Those 'loins were huge! Al Greens! What a dive. But the food... Even as a high schooler, I could not finish one.

White Castles are White Castles, and any similarity to a hamburger is purely conincidental! They are two entirely different goodies!Originally posted by Lucky161:

Any Buckeyes out there that can recommend some good Tenderloin shacks in C-bus? I want to bring one to Jimmy Vasser over at Rahal's shop. You know, "who needs tenderloin?"![]()

As the instigator of this thread, all I can say is thank you to everybody who helped make this new record a possibility. I don't think I have ever been so proud.Originally posted by PHJIndy:

And, proud, you should be, HopHead. You not only touched our hearts with this topic...but you touched our stomachs!![]()
Me and my brother in racing, the very Mr. Spangler who has been banished from this forum, look forward all year to the time we sit in the Tower Terrace with our stopwatches in one hand and a spicy tenderloin in the other, viewing track babes and Indy cars with equal amounts of passion.
At times like those, all is right with the world.![]()
Dave Steele Rocks!!!
Yes, the days I can break away from Michigan, and take in one of those lazy practice days at the Speedway, life is just so good then.
I don't know if they do it as much, but when I was younger, there was always bus loads of local kids that took in a day of practice as a field trip. Used to love watching their faces the first time a car came by at speed.
I will buy a tenderloin at the track within one hour of getting there in May, as a tribute to this post.
Tenderloins are yummy and all...but what I really miss are those Ribeye Steak Sandwiches they sold for a few years.
Now THAT was a sandwich!

Kidding aside, this is actually a serious question. I have called around, can't find one in C-bus...Originally posted by Racemind:

With a good tenderloin I like the lettuce, tomato, onion, and dill pickle slices with mayo. TO DIE FOR!

BTW, my favorite tenderloins come from Frank 'n Mary's Tavern in Pittsboro (I am not really a catfish fan, so I have to go for the alternatives) and Harry C's on the South Side.

Some good ones would have to be atMug-N-Bun on 10th street. The Diner on west 40 is good. I've had one once, but I do know they were voted bestt in Indy by Indianapolis Monthly readers. But BY FAR THE BEST are at Anderson Speedway. Little truck in the first turn. Lettuce, tomato, onion, and "dressing". If you ever make it to Anderson (USAC Sprint and Midget doubleheader April 7th) you HAVE to get one. Don't forget the fries.
Btw, I smother my loins with mustard and jalepenos!![]()
Sounds hot, manson...and almost more than we need to know! LOL!..![]()

I really looked forward to my first White Castle. Even though they made it down here frozen in the supermarket, I wouldn't eat one of those, because I wanted the real thing. I finally got my chance, but I was very disappointed. In my three trips to Indy I have eaten pretty well, but White Castles did nothing to add to that experience. I am definitely looking forward to trying a tenderloin the first chance I get though. But I appreciate you folks cutting me some slack there.![]()
Lucky, somebody must have forgotten to tell you the rules on White Castles.
They are at their best around 2:00 in the morning after a night of howling at the moon.
Try them then and get back with us.

The Biggest Tenderloin I ever saw was at the Shelby Street Diner.![]()

I grew up with Tenderloins in Iowa, you can get them everywhere, but the best I ever had was at the Janesville Diner.
And Finally...White Castle's make me sick, and I have an iron stomach. I think it's something you have to grow up eating to enjoy, you must have to build an immunity to them...like licking toads or something.

that's it.
I'm making my own tenderloins... now who's got the best recipe?

One should never use the words 'White Castle' and 'crack' in the same sentence.Originally posted by Professor Joe:
