    A Black Box Found

One of my co-workers just told me that a black box has been recovered from the airplane that crashed into the pentagon.

I have a horrible feeling that the Pennsylvania plane was shot down out of necessity. Of course, we may never find out the truth about that, because too many people can't handle the truth.

It is known that a fighter jet was scrambled to follow that plane once it reached Ohio.

I doubt it. If they shot it, it would have exploded big time and would have laid down a huge debris field rather than leaving a big hole.

The passenger take-over theory makes the most sense. With cell phones, they knew it was all over anyway. A takeover was their best bet. However if the pilot had been killed, there would be no one left to fly the plane. . .

"It is known", source please. Even if they managed to get fighter airborne in the little time availabe, it would have had no method of bring the plane down short of ramming. I think some people put too much confidence in reporters trying to make a big story, even in sad times like this. Sort of like the statement that none of the aircraft set their xponder to the "hijack" code turned into they all turned their xponders off when the media got thru trying to turn it into a big story.

With the size of the pieces that they are finding,( very small pieces), I think someone opened a door and the plane ripped itself apart.

They're reporting they've found the black boxes to the two WTC planes. Did the one from the Pentagon crash already get discovered or are they still looking for that? How were the black boxes not incenerated in the blaze?

I think someone opened a door and the plane ripped itself apart.

As an engineer and someone who tries to sit in the exit aisle for comfort, I have wondered from time to time if it would even be possible to open a door on a plane if the cabin is pressurerized. I don't think so. If the cabin pressure is 15 psi and the outside pressure at altitude were, let's say for calculation purposes 10 psi, that's a difference of 5 psi. Now, let's say the emergency door is 24 x 48 inches, that is 1152 sq. in. That means that there is a difference of 5760 lbs of force acting on the door from the inside campared to the outside! And this isn't even the door that passengers exit and enter from. All plane doors open inward, thus enabling them to seal. I don't think anyone would be able to open a cabin door when the cabin is pressurized. I don't work in the aircraft industry, I don't know how passenger cabin doors work and my dimensions and pressures are pretty much speculation but I bet they are close. Is there anyone who could clarify this out there?

No, midtown, I can't clarify it, but I've seen psi-stuff like that before and I think you are correct.

i dont think that the jet was show down with a missle...but it may have very well had its engines and wing raked with 30mm shells from an f-16....

that would be an "assisted landing" if it werent denied.

how do you explain the debris field that is 6 mile away from the main crash site?

About the Pentagon black box, I heard that they detected a signal in the rubble that the black box was emitting.
