    AGT, TransAm & similar cars

Here's a question about the chassis in such cars: what kind of a difference is there between the chassis from various manufacturers - is it just the build quality, or are there actually differences in the design? How strict are the rules for such a design? Obviously they don't have anything in common with the road car - not even the suspension geometry I believe (?) - but, how (for lack of a better word) "spec" are they?

Is the actual age of the design less of a factor with these cars than with other racecars?

TransAm are full, tube frame chassis with a skin hung on them. Very much like Winston Cup cars. There are some differences between manufacturers, but about the same as between WC shops. The current generation are a development of the move to encourage shops building modifieds to build for the series. Lot's of things have been changed from that spec., but that was a different era also. The AGT specs are, for all intents and purposes, identical to TransAm.
