This is sort of a tech question, but I can't get on the tech board, so I'll ask it here. Chris B suggested that a twin turbo Olds V8 in a front engined streamlined body might do 260. Well forget the configuration and the bodywork, but what kind of horsepower would this generate? Earlier Indy cars with turbos were getting around 1100HP a few years ago and I think some F1 engines were doing 1200 or 1300HP with a 1.5L engine. Would a 3.5L with unlimited boost put out more hp than a big block Chevy or Ford with unlimited boost?
Top Fuel engines are reported to put out in excess of 6000HP, although I am not sure how the figure that. I have read that no dyno exist to measure that much horsepower. Perhaps they measure fuel burned to reach that figure?
