Thread: Does TG think fans are stupid?

Does TG think fans are stupid?

I'm sorry, but I can't believe that Tony George thinks that fans don't know what went on during the Freedom 100.

I would like to ask TG and Foyt's team how Carpenter's lap times were faster during the race on a full tank of fuel than they were on his qualifying run (which is not on a full tank)?

On the website, Ed said that they used the tall gears....well, so did half of the other drivers...plus in order to run those big gears, you need to have the horsepower. If this is a spec series, where did that horsepower come from? Heaven?

And...how can Ed go that fast by himself, while the rest of the cars couldn't do those speeds in the draft?

My opinion is that the real winner of the race is Cory Witherill and 2nd place belongs to Mark Taylor. That was real racing. Not Ed Carpenter operating what might as well be called the pace car.

Don't get me wrong, I happen to like Ed Carpenter. Unfortunately, I think he is with the notoriously "shady" team who appears to be pulling the same tricks as last year. I'm sorry, I just thought playing by the rules makes for a more interesting race.

Could you tell us exactly what they did and prove it? I'm sure you must be thinking something but I would really like to know your source and proof. Going faster than the rest of the field ain't proof so please try something else.

Do you ever watch Nascar? They are always talking about how if you run two abreast in Nascar or Open Wheel the car by itself in front can pull away and the car behind them can catch up. Duh simple and it was a short gear not taller gear.

I don't think I need to prove it. It was so ridiculously obvious. And everybody is saying so. That is all I heard when I was at the Speedway. If either of you are closing your eyes to the facts, then there is nothing I can do. This is a spec series, that alone should help you understand what went on during the race.

So is C^RT but you don't hear us whining that Tracy got the call because they HAD to have a "name driver" to win their first couple of races or NO ONE would EVER watch.

    Now what's your point?
    But that's just my opinion!

Good call! To say Ed's runnin' off and hidin' was suspect, is like sayin' Miquel's Gigante Taco Wagon layin that Country Butt Wuppin' at the Milwaukee Mile, was suspect! He beat 'em, case closed. See ya' next time. Where do these people come up with these theories?

Knowing he was going to win that one from the start, I'm surprised the Hulmans didn't have rose petals laid out on the front straight when he came down to take the checkers.

Among other evidence, I won't reveal my sources, but I will tell you that two of Foyts crew guys said right in front of me to a friend of mine, who is also a friend of theirs, that Hemelgarn and Panther did a great job, but there was no way either team even had a possiblity of winning legally and that was all they were going to say.

I can't believe the people who are denying this. It was so obvious. I suppose the thread about sniffing Carpenter's fuel is also garbage. Some of you sound like Mark Geragos who is the lawyer for Scott Peterson. I suppose Jeff Simmmons pulled out of the series because of a Satanic Cult.

Who says that he pulled out of the series? I haven't seen anything nor HEARD anything regarding that. Link? Secondly, there could be SEVERAL reasons if he did or does... ie: $$$$$, equipment problems etc... so I'll reserve judgement until Pikes Peak unless you can show me somewhere he states that. With the exception of a friend of my cousins uncle that knows this guy that washes windshields at the stop light, who washed this guys window, who was talking on his cell phone and the guy sitting next to him....who I DON'T know, said that he heard it from his baby momma 5th cousin that Jeff Simmons was leaving the IPS because Ed Carpenter's a cheater!!!

Are you kidding me ? EVERYBODY knows that guy is a born lier !
In fact his girlfriend's hairdresser mom's best friend's daughter was talking to a cousin who was overheard by his yard boy telling a group of neighbors that under no circumstances would he ever believe anything that he eavesdrop from any windshield washer like him.

Oh, yes you do. How would you like someone to challenge your character and then say they don't have to prove it?

Did the car make it through tech? It sure seems like it. I believe (Mackie would know for sure) is handled by an independant firm 9Race tech, I believe). If the car ran throught tech and tony george was doing all the measuring, you might have something to gripe about.

    It was so ridiculously obvious.
Alot of things are ridiculously obvious.

There's nothing you can do anyway. The race is over, the money has been handed out. The result is in the record book.

Ed drove a great race. The car was set up suberbly. It's only the defending championship team. If they don't have it figured out you have to wonder how they were so effective last year.

Robbie buhl won seven Straight spec Barber dodge races. Paul Tracy and Greg Moore won unprecedented streaks in Indy Lights. Paul Tracy won the first three cart races this year with spec motors.

Anyone remember the tear Jorg Mueller put on in Porsche Cup?

Nothing new here. Somebody just figured it out before the others.

Maybe AJ lent Ed his pop off vave.

I can't believe any of this either. Don't lead with your chin, ok?

What have you been sniffing? See, I told you, tuck your chin in next time.

Because there's no reason to suspect that Tracy would get "the call." You forget that he didn't win any of those races running away. Seabass had St. Pete at hand until he botched it into the wall, Long Beach was Michel's race to win... and his gearbox's race to lose.

Now Ed Carpenter turns laps more than a mile per hour faster than everyone else and exhibits an uncanny ability to pull away from the draft - in cars that supposedly all have the same horsepower.

You can't compare that AT ALL to Michel Jourdain's win going away at Milwaukee - which had nothing to do with horsepower and everything to do with the combination of car setup and driver talent.

It's no surprise there's only 13 entries for the IPS race at Pikes Peak.

Notice how Ed hasn't show that kind of power either before or after that race?

Of course not - the rest of the cars got trashed @ IMS.

I don't disagree with your post, though...

If A.J. was cheating in the IPS race, then he better start doing the samething in the IRL. Sleepy, go back to sleep.

This one doesn't even warrant a response!

No you're right, I CAN'T compare that to Michel Jourdain. It was "Pit strategy" and one helI of a ride by MJ for that win. But we weren't comparing that to MJ were we?

Considering the "one-offs" at Indy and all the torn up cars that they have, I'm not surprised either. However, 13 cars put on a better race than ANY I've seen from that other series except Milwaukee. That was a race! The PPIR IPS race had MORE passing in ONE race than that other series has had ALL YEAR!

I personnally think the IPS put on some good shows. Michigan last year was a heck of a show before it started raining, as was Kentucky. Besides Carpenter, the cars were putting on side-by-side racing all day at Indy. I think it'll only get better in the next few years.
