    $10-11 million per car???

    From Thursday's Toronto Star:

    http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/Con...=1044529390035

Bob Bexon of Player's says it costs "$20-22 million" to run the team. We were hearing that CART cars would be cheaper this year, around $5 million a car. Shortly after St. Pete, teams were saying, "whoa, it's going to be $7 million per car." Now it's $10-11 million per car? Even with ESP, that's a tough nut to crack.

That figure sounds awfully high. If it's true, what would the cost be without the Pookfare and the subsidized engines? Scary.

I wonder how much of that goes into hospitality, hotels, etc. You can probably run a one car team for $5-7 million, but your hospitality area is non-existent, no testing, not the best hotels for travel, etc. Player's does everything first class, I'm sure.
    It's a Hoosier thing, you wouldn't understand...

    American dollars or Canadian dollars?

If it was Canadian dollars, isn't that like PDM's budget?

Sounds like they need me poking around in their business!

How about stock blocks and fields of 40-60 cars? I'd even watch a road race like that.

Might those numbers include Tagliani's salary (plus whatever hefty salary Tracy gets--as with Franchitti's $$$ probably out of line with the market)?

Well, Fry Sauce, guess it isn't "irrelevant" to you because you posted on it and it seems others have chosen to discuss it.

Fry Sauce, okay, I'll try to do better.....money fuels these cars much more than methanol...the money must be there before the methanol gets poured in.....so I don't buy your term "irrelevant."

i they were only getting 2 million a year from Players, then thats what they'd spend. If they got 200 million, then THATS what they would spend. Look at F1, they have motorhomes that defy the definition of motorhome, and park and level themsleves by lasers to be perfectly alligned. Why? Just because they can.
