What did you expect - bumped to the deuce at the last minute.
Hey, I'm PROUD to be part of that .3. Bless our cable company for finally adding the Deuce to our basic cable two months ago...
Again, the ratings were very good at the Flag Room!![]()
Have a very blessed day!
What channel was it on last year and what was the rating?
How did the lumberjack contest do on ESPN?
It's a Hoosier thing, you wouldn't understand...
i think this was the first race maybe ever on the deuce(IRL race), cant say im surprised atleat the kansas rating was decent.
I hope now, that Cart's Speed channel ratings can be kept in better perspective.
I know it is the prevailing opinion that the race was moved to ESPN2 at the last minute but maybe we need to define last minute. The Direct TV guide had it listed as being on ESPN2. Since that book arrived in the mail around June 23rd, it was surely printed at least a week or two in advance of that if not more. So it must have been known in early June that the race would be on ESPN2.Originally posted by damilt

"You can't arrest those guys, they're folk heroes"
"They're criminals"
"Well most folk heroes started out as criminals"
Wonder if the rating people ever figure out that a lot of saturday night sports event are watched by a huge number of people in bars and resteraunts. I've been to bars where everyone was watching the irl on 1 tv. do ratings reflect that kinda stuff. probably not.
Since I couldn't make it, I was one of the .3. A lot of those who would have watched were probably there in person. What were the att. numbers?
Also, sure enjoyed the Lee Greenwood spots. Really a nice touch.

Last years race was also on ESPN2, and pulled a .5.Originally posted by spook

Attendance was something like 30,000 not even a drop in the bucket ratings wise.Originally posted by tnindyman

I'd like to have seen someone more high profile than Lee Greenwood on the lead-ins myself. This guy had one hit and has turned it into a career!
Gimme Faith Hill!
And no, TVs at bars and such don't figure in. Actually, I think they base this on a small sampling. They sure can't tell what eveyone is watching at a certain time.
Ok, everyone needs to stop glossing over this crappy rating with the stuff about attendance. If the ENTIRE GRANDSTAND, which was what - 30-35k at the most - had been home watching on tv and they were ALL Nielsen homes, the rating would still have been less than 1.
Given that it's gone down from last year, on the same channel, I think we can all just admit that it's not good, and move on. Let's make this the shortest ratings thread that ever was. Want to?![]()
Michigan will be better.
can this number be linked to somewhere OTHER than ***???Originally posted by TestUser

MAN...that's just sad.
Very bad. No glossing over it. Maybe this is why we don't see more Saturday night races.
Proud to be a complainer.
How do I get one of those boxes in my house?

Coincidentally my fiance received a Nielson's weekly TV diary this week in the mail...and even though Raildad and I were in Nashville taking in the race live, I made sure 7pm-9pm Saturday night was marked as ESPN 2 in her rating book.....I felt obliged to lend what ever support I could...
Say, Mr. first post, got a link for this?Originally posted by TestUser

Thanks to my new cats,
I taped ESPN instead of the Deuce.
We were bumped for a bunch of 3 AM type junk shows.
I could have seen it if it were a MLB game or something live.
What a joke the Partner is![]()
I bet it was bumped intentionally to throw the ratings to a 0.3 from say a 0.8. I just don't know what sick person would do that - just break the contract. Please break the contract.
Natural Born Cynic
What irks me (maybe its too soon for the truth), DW was a 16-oval WIN specialist, yet the vast majority those boohooing for him, hardcarders & fans, alike are the same ones trying to kill anything with more than 9 deg banking & 4 corners, where Dan ultimately made his home...
Isn't believeable? I think it is. If it isn't a .3, it's pretty darn close probably.Originally posted by Jim Wilke

Thanks, Nick51 - since you fudged the nielson diary our ratings are now .29875!!Another IRL race decided by ten thousanths!
Naw, actually I think this might be the first season since they moved to ABC/ESPN that there will only be one race on the duece. I think last year had at least two, and the year before may have had three.Originally posted by AlJRFAN

One driver's "fuel strategy" is another driver's "speed up or we will park you!"
.3 sucks. Don't try to spin it. Just accept it.
IRL, Champcar and F1 fan
I'm not trying to spin it, just verify it. It is possible, even likely, that the number was a 0.3. I'd just like to see it in print somewhere else before I take the word of somebody with one post.
Great point. Let's see a link for the numbers prior to wailing.
Mr. Kernan, you still around?
Let's get some credibility into this thread, please.
Texas '97 was the first IRL race on ESPN2.i think this was the first race maybe ever on the deuce(IRL race)
Add about five of the fellows that were running at Lawrenceburg in the Indiana Sprint Week last night and those ratings will go up considerably.
There's no way around a .3, its as bad as the coverage is for these races.
