Faster than a bullet from a gun
He is faster than everyone
Quicker than the blinking of an eye
Like a flash you could miss him going by
No one knows quite how he does it but it's true they say
He's the master of going faster. -George Harrison
really did enjoy seeing those, Kev..thanks. and thanks to your dad, too.
i'm guessing the Hanks, Rathmann and Ward shots are 1954 issued cards of their '53 entries.
Ward's is one 'funny' looking car. to me, it looks like it a cross between a Maserati and Blue Crown Spl.
great shot of Chet Miller from '52.
very nice color on those cards.
the last one looks to be from the first year of the 'new' pit/tower -- '57.
good stuff.........
...very cool Kevin.
The last photo is my favorite,...but then that shot through the years has always been my favorite.
I read that the car Ward was in was a hybred of sorts. A Kurtis-Kraft 4000 chassis with K-K 3000 body work. Also, to me that pace lap photo looks like its from '57. In '54 I'm sure Jack McGrath in the yellow Hinkle roadster was in the front row somewhere, perhaps the pole without going back to check the records.

We must put an end to superfulous redundancy.
