    Just bought a used Palm..question

I just purchsed a used Palm VIIx from a friend. He has lost the software. What software should I use with this model and where can I get it? I have seen some Palm O/S software available on their web site but don't know which one to download.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Yeah we're not a bunch of computer geeks here... we're just a bunch of race fans with access to computers.

Will you pay for the Internet service or not?

You can get the latest version of the HotSync Manager software.

As far as the software on the Palm itself, there's two you might have:

    OS 3 & 4
    OS 5

Your Palm, I'm 99.9% sure, has either OS3 or 4.

What do you want to do with your Palm?

Do you already have a calender?

It's tempting but looks a little expensive for what you get (unless I am reading it incorrectly).

That's a good question-I'm not really fully aware of all it can do.

There is a calendar on the Palm-that is what I am using it for currently.

Thank you for the software link.

Okay... I guess some of us are computer geeks `round here.

But I only clicked on here in the first place to find out who was selling used palm trees, as I need some more around the pool.

Thanks mnky. Question-is there an application where I can have my palm download daily newspapers (ie:Indy Star sports section) in the morning before I leave for work?

    Thanks

    http://www.avantgo.com is what you want.

Don't think they have the IndyStar, but they've got a lot of stuff available.

So, did you get it up and working?

If you poke around www.palmone.com you can get a manual and if look in some the of FAQ and user suggestions, you can get some information on some of the other features not listed in the manual.

There is a lot more to these handhelds than meet the eye. I think they're great!

Among the other dumb things on my Palm, I've got a stopwatch program on my Palm.

Yes I did. I downloaded the software this morning. I had a manual and the cradle-just not the software. The links mnky posted are great-lots of options.

Yours also has the option to connect for information.

Or, at least, did. No idea if it's still supported or the cost.

But I recall checking my Yahoo mail on a Palm VII five years ago...
