No one can prove you right, and no one can prove you wrong. In fact, at this time no one can prove much of anything.

Apparently Gentilozzi made these comments in Toronto today. We'll see how much of this comes together, his batting average has been a little weak lately.

Sammich, I don't have major problems with your crystal ball, save one.

New formula? Who knows. Don't know how they'd pay for it during times when there is a cash crunch anyway, but it sure doesn't keep them from announcing it. As long as they pick a course and stick with it.

15 races. I bet not. I see more like 10 or 12, tops. I'd much rather them run 10 viable races for a couple of years than 15 races, of which only 10 produce a profit. But again, it doesn't really matter, as long as they announce a schedule and, for the first time in 6 years, actually stick to it 100%. That will do more than ANYTHING proving to me that it's not just business as usual.

But TV? I don't think so. Not a chance in the world. I'm anxious to see how the diehard rank and file fans, who have defended the doc situation with furvor, act when they discover TV this year will be an "Inside the Champ Car World Series" style show with about 20 minutes worth of taped highlights every other week. Safety is a practical consideration, but viewing those races live is a dang God-given RIGHT!!!

Paul has been rock solid!! He has everything under control. Look for 19 cars at Long Beach with the announcement of a series sponsor.

Why are you so dubious about the TV situation?Spike has been rumoured for 6 months, they have had more than enough time to finalize a deal, and it is not beyond the realm of possiblity that Spike just might WANT to show the races.
Doing something different, risky is a great way to[occasionally]get a market advantage.

If they are on Spike, condensed, taped, whatever its bound to be better than the crap that ABC tries to pass off, year after year,to the fans of the IRL.

I got this from another forum(cut and pasted it)....give me a minute and I'll get you the linky.
    http://www.ten-tenths.com/forum/show...5&pagenumber=2

15 races for sure and announcement next week on another int'l race, schedule to be confirmed in a week

St. Pete's just the legal bs that it won't be running

18 cars at Long Beach, 15 confirmed and 6 drivers floating around to fill 3 seats.

TV schedule done. Will be out in a few days

All races will be aired at 4pm EST on Sundays so some races will be live, tape to live, tape delay. Network deal done and the network is on board for promotion as well.
But 11am Sunday CCWS show. Now not sure if it is race weeks only or every Sunday

2005 Formula will be anouinced March 8-9 along with teams drivers and sponsors

Trans Am driver announcement next week that will leave you shaking your head re driver and owner combo

PG was asked if there was room in theur 5 yr plan for unification
    "NO"

Sez he watched wind tunnel and *TG and thought it was good.

Mentioned numerous times that the Fan is #1 and that they are focusing on the personalities of the drivers.

You've got to be kidding me - I was just about to finalize my plans for the Hawaiian Super Prix.

Sorry, Dog - I've pretty much been awake since mid December taking care of a newborn, and I'm getting a bit punchy.

I heartily disagree. A whatever broadcast on a B-level cable channel is hardly better than races on network TV.

I'm worried more about the QUALITY of the broadcasts.

With what's gone on so far in terms of cost cutting I'm kind of expecting a reduction in production quality.

    But I'm wrong frequently.

How was CART's coverage on Speed last year? Does it matter?

  27. #27
Posted this elsewhere where Ticket Boy's notes have been reported:

    1. Gentilozzi said schedule to be finalized in a week and TV is done. How can TV be done and the schedule NOT be done?

    2. Mark C.'s site posted that Long Beach will be on CBS but no indication whether live or tape, tyhen links to a CBS schedule that shows the race to be aired Saturday, April 24, six days after the race. Reckon it's taped.

    3. Production-wise, there's still the "floataround" out there that some guy's going to do 'em with four cameras for $150,000 a race in production costs. That ought to be a breathtaking production at a four-mile road course like Elkhart Lake.

    4. It was pointed out elsewhere that Pruett is racing, Varsha and Kendall are gone from last year's telecasts. No idea on the talent, but it ain't them.

According to things I have read elsewhere Kendall is resigned with OWRS.

No better or worse than it always has been. None of the motorsports TV producers here in the States can hold a candle to the job that the German producers do with F1 (Nurburgring and Hockenheim races), when they get to that level at ESPN, Speed etc, then we can say we have quality motorsports TV production here.

I thought the production of the CART races was better than the IRL races.

Apparently the IRL agreed, as they brought in Terry Lingner - the producer from those CART broadcasts - to do the IRL broadcasts.
