ABC brought in Lingner, not IMS Productions....but agree that he's a good producer.

Its about time........................I wander if ABC is trying to upgrade their racing broadcast quality to at "least" match NBC's,and aim for Fox.

That's funny, a year ago all the CART fans were raving about what a good job Speed did. Of course, that was before the ratings sank to miniscule levels and Speed booted them off.

From what I saw last year, Speed did the best they could with what they had. If the IRL's telecasts improve to that level, I'll be happy. From what I've heard of OWRS' plans, if their telecast are even close to the level seen on Speed, I'll be astonished.

As I said, the coverage was fine. It was the status quo as far as motorsports coverage in the US. There is a long way to go for all of the producers of racing coverage here. Flashy graphics, fake billboards and pictures of drivers superimposed on the track do not make a good telecast, it's simply window dressing.

Good coverage is about camera placement, camera angles and the use of enough in-car cameras to get the shots at all parts of a circuit, but if the US is really all about ovals and always will be, none of that matters, I guess. 4 cameras, and possibly a helicopter should cover it.

Did they boot them off or just replace them with get-rich-quick infomercials?
