    Missing antifreeze in a 4 cyclinder Ranger / B2300

Any one ever run into this?

I am losing about a gallon of coolant a month, no leaks on the driveway, when I had my oil changed they ran it for at least 20 minutes on the rack, and could not find a leak.

No coolant in the oil. No smoking, Runs perfect

Head gasket?????? 1996 with 112,000 miles. I hope not, I just made the last payment a couple of months ago>

I've asked around the shop and the best response is that you have a neighbor with a warped sense of practical joking!

Or...you have a leak that hits the exhaust and vaporizes...but you'd think the guys at the shop could've noticed that.

We had a 1995 Mustang that did the same thing. But that was a V-6. The head gasket was found to be defective, and it was actually recalled.

Too bad it was too late and the motor had already blown. That thing DRANK coolant like guys in the Snake Pit drink beer. There was never a sign of it on the ground, nor any obvious signs of a leak. But I knew there had to be a leak somewhere.

Just checked with my friends over at the local Ford dealer and they said " He got 112,000 miles out of that engine without it blowin up?"...........................

    Just kiddin...........

All of the mechanics said that if you don't discover a leak that is disipating on the exhaust headers than expect to have a blown head gasket or a cracked head. Take a look at your oil and see if it's kinda brown in color.

    The oil looks ok.

I will check again to see if it is leaking externally onto the header and boiling away. If that is the case I should be able to nurse it for a couple of more years.
