    Indy '70's DVD

Got a copy for my birthday... finally got around to watching it.

I enjoyed it. I didn't run into any of the technical glitches that have been mentioned. Having Tom C do the comentary was a wonderful idea, as was seeing Al, Bobby, JR, AJ, and others give their input. I can understand why many look back at this time & think it was the best.

I am considering a purchase of the 1980's & 1960's DVDs also. I hope they are as good.

    IMO, they are!

IMO, the 60's is, the 80s on the ohter hand, isn't. Very poor quality film is used frequently throughout the DVD - which makes no sense since all the 80's races have tons of video footage available. IMO the 80's is the worst of the three and relatively worthless for someone who has all the original broadcasts of the 80's 500s.

That is an interesting observation. One would wonder how that could happen with all of the extra footage that would be available.

The 1980's races were all in my lifetime, while none of the 1960's were. Oddly, when I was at the museum in May, the cars I wanted to see the most were all cars from before my time, so I think I will look at getting that one next.

Anyone know if we might ever see a 1950's (or before) DVD? Heck, I'd settle for some old newsreels of the 1930's & '40's.

The 80s may be the worst of the three, but it is still worth buying if:

    1) You don't have tapes of the original broadcasts from the 80s.

    2) You have tapes of the original broadcasts from the 80s but you would occasionally like to see the race highlights without viewing or scanning through an entire broadcast.

    3) You enjoy hearing Tom Carnegie's narration and find the recent interviews of the 80s Indy 500 participants of interest.
