Reno 911 is the type of show where you have to sit through 20 minutes of boredom to find the 2 minutes of gut-busting hilarity.

Reno 911 is the latest from the braintrust of a "Kids in the Hall" type comedy ensemble that has been knocking about for about 15 years, still looking for their big break. They do some pretty funny stuff, though not particularly ground breaking
Their previous most visible incarnation was as "The State," an MTV sketch comedy series that tried to channel SCTV. Members have come and gone over the years. Thomas Lennon, the guy who plays the chief cop, seems to be the most consistent member. A few of the guys from the troop get auditioned for SNL every so often. One of them...can't remember his name, but it starts with a "K"...was an SNL cast member for one season and was dumped. I know all this because I once did a writing project with a guy who spent some time in the group.
