Quiz time, who said this at the annual basketball banquet and who was he honoring? After thanking teamates, assistants, fans, and cheerleaders, he begins with this -
"I promised myself I wouldn't cry -
I would like to thank Coach. He's a wonderful man. I want to thank him especially for giving me a chance to earn a degree from a Big Ten university. I appreciate him giving me a chance to be a winner, a leader ... (then the tears begin flowing). Coach, you've definitely earned my undying respect and admiration. I hope you're as proud of me as I am of you. I remember being in the assistant's office one time and I asked Coach if years down the road if I was fortunate enough to have kids that I was hoping I could bring them back to meet him. The reason being is I'd like for my kids to meet the man who made me the person I am today. He's done a tremendous amount for me. "
"Even though we didn't give him that missing piece of the puzzle by going to the Final Four, he's got a piece I don't know if he knows he has: he has a piece of my heart and I love him very much."
