There's been several deals like this recently, and most of the perps are pretty nice looking.
You'd think with all the Cialis, Viagra, and Levitra floating around these days the older guys could keep em happy.........

I never remember teachers looking like that when I was 13. . but then, maybe they did under their habits!
It amazes me how the media and the public have been reacting to these stories. Switch the genders and you have calls for the return of public hangings.
Look at the Mary Kay Leturno (sp?) story. She was interviewed by freakin' Barbara Walters!! She'll most likely sell her 'love story' to the highest bidder for a tidy sum. What would happen if a man in the same situation tried that?
All youthful fantasy talk aside. It just strikes me as plain wrong.

These women who prey on young boys are seriously ****ed up. This a betrayal of trust and a horrible crime - not only the sexual relations, but the theft of innocence.
It REALLY bothers me to hear people making light of the older woman/teenage boy sexual abuse cases. If a male teacher were abusing a female student, or a male student, there would be a serious outcry.
I can't even imagine the psychological damage this could inflict on a teenager. No matter how "hot" the teacher may be.

^ Exactly. We all revert to junior high students when we hear this and think how cool that would be, but I'll bet these kids end up totally messed up down the road. How could you not? Have your sex life broadcast on national news before you even get your drivers license? That would have totally messed me up. Growing up is difficult enough and kids are kids for only a short time. They don't need to contend with this.

These two most recently "hot for teacher" episodes have taken place in Florida. Thankfully the local press is dealing with this much more seriously than the cable news channels.
It's only on the 24 hour news services where they have the time to bring in experts and I guess so they can be seen as "fair and balanced" they bring in some idiot that only wants to make light of it and talk about how this is every boyhood dream.
It might be a common fantasy but it's not one meant to be lived out... not when you are 13. In all of the cases that I've heard about the defense always seems to be mental illness... people think this because who would be attracted to a 13 year old who is in their right mind??
The answer to that is that a perv would... same with men who do it.
The media in this case the cable news media needs to take a more responsible look at this issue and stop treating it like a possible ratings boost.
I blame Reagan for this and all the cuts he made in mental health in the early 80s... you know the ones that opened the gates of the old nuthouse at Washington and Tibbs.
Now if it had only been Eisenhower who made the cuts then maybe I could have lived out my teacher fantasy as well.

The changes that led to de-institutionalizing the mentally ill came about in the 60's and 70's and by the time of Carter's admin. it was nearly impossible to have someone committed against their will. The results of those misguided reforms became apparent during the Reagan admin. with the increased homelessness, but it wasn't the result of his policies.
de-institutionalizing did take place in the 60s and 70s, but we were still committing people against their will... however budget cuts made in the early 80s were responsible for places like the Central State Mental hospital at Washington and Tibbs closing their doors... homeless crazy people made themselves known as soon as they hit the streets...Originally posted by Lemming51

there was no delay involved.
The de-institutionalizing of the 60s and 70s did more good than harm as it allowed many who had been institutionalized but capable of living productive lives find a better life. Sure we would hear about the mistakes but the majority of those released back then were appropriate and actually broke down some false opinions about who had to be institutionalized. In the early 80s people were being released who had no bidness on the street.
But thankfully that wasn't my problem in the early 80s... it was Florida's. It seemed that whenever we would hear about one of our commitments escaping from Central State that we would later learn that they had made their way to Florida and had been living on the beach before getting picked up again.
No... but it's my problem now that I'm living in Florida.

The article did mention that the teacher was living with the "victim's" family for awhile - so that's kinda weird.
I do somewhat agree with Bob that people complain too much about somewhat meaningless things.
In other parts of the world, many 13 year old kids main worry is if their "chamber will jam" when the rebels (or gov't troops) are breaking down the door of his house, or if they'll run out of amo, or if there school will be bombed during the day, or if the $.35 they made that day at the sweatshop will enable his sisters and/or mom to "stay off the streets" that night.
Meanwhile, here is the US, we sympathize for a 13 year old kid that accomplished a goal that will monopolize his thought process for the next 30+ years......."getting some".
Yeah, it shouldn't have happened, but c'mon. The guy (in the linked story) that tried to commit suicide, etc because of his experience sounds like he would have found a reason to do it anyway.
