I wonder what he thinks about four of his fellow Champ Car drivers driving 10-18 mph off the pace at Milwaukee?

    Glad he's recovering nicely.

Really? 4 were 10-18 mph off the pace? Please list them, thanks.

    Tracy on Windtunnel

Anyone else catch him? Thought he was uncharacteristically mild.

His comments on Danica were stupid, though. Something like with all the pressure on her she could make a mistake and get hurt, and how he hoped that didn't happen (with smirk on his face). Mind you, he always has that smirk on his face, don't think that meant anything in particular.

Bruno was his usual charismatic self.

Geez, was the milk too warm in your cornflakes this morning?

Actually that's not fair. He said that it was unfortunate that Danica was under the media pressure she was under considering she's just learning the ropes so to speak. He also said that she was talented and that her mistakes she's made so far have been typical rookie mistakes but are getting a lot of attention because she's getting a lot of attention.

I was glad to see Bruno able to get up out of the chair as well as he did.

I also have no problems with his IV comments.

^ None of which have anything to do with the race.

Just a hint, I was at the race and never saw anything close to what you are inferring or what I saw on TV watching the Indy 500.

I wactually was impressed with Paul. Good comments on a lot of things.

Didn't burn any bridges so to speak. I too skipped hour #2.

Sounds like Paul was really lobby for a Nascar ride.DW told him he better stick to what he's doing. Yea DW said he was busting his chops, but it sounded kind of like when my boss is joking with me but is really trying to get a point across as well.
Milwaukee was raced on an oval and Kalkhoven appears to favour street races.

You guys that skipped hour #2 missed a great observation by Tracy after Steve Matchett described the hybrid composite/titanium gearbox being used by Ferrari. Too whit, after Matchett described this gearbox and its teething problems, Tracy says "and yet they are only allowed one set of tires and one pit crew, but they have a $1 million dollar gearbox. I don't get it." Matchett and Despain cracked up.

I triple it (or third it?).
Bruno seemed in VERY good spirits.
And, IMO, he was right about he said about IV.

(did you honestly think I'd disagree with him? )

As for PT, I too was impressed with what he said...especially about the IRL and Indy.
(I was thinking the crappies were probably poo-pooing their drawers over PT's rather concilliatory remarks! )

    Caught that one.

Tied into a conversation I had with a layman (laywoman?) ... some clips of the IRL @TMS came on and she asked me "what's the difference between those and F1?". I launched into the usual, about R&D, technical stuff, weight, etc... she just shrugged and said "they look the same".

That was $2B well spent by F1.

Paul should know - he kept making rookie mistakes for about the first 10 years of his career ...

No question PT has made some boneheaded moves on the track over the years. He is aggresive as hell and has a lot of wins and dnf's to show for it.

Without a doubt my favorite driver since '93.

I just remembered something : While discussing what happened to Bruno @ Indy, PT said something about not putting his health at risk (running at Indy).....a rather gratuitous statement, IMO....especially since it struck me as a veiled criticism of Bruno/N-H running at Indy.
(and yes, I know the die-hard fanatics are upset about the whole Indy deal!)

    However........

    1) I seemed to remember PT getting hurt in a Champ Car (Michigan years back, IIRC?)
    2) As much as I hate to see ANYONE get hurt, but racing is dangerous and a driver can get hurt in a Champ Car, also.

I'd like to see IV and Bruno drive each other's cars sometime
    and see what happens.

IV did pretty well in the MIPS, where he had the same car
    everyone else had.

I would still say that Bruno would do a better job than IV has done. That's of course MHO.
