I sent my heartfelt synpathies to Mrs. Heywood and the girls. I know there really are no words that can make you feel better right now but please know that there are many fine folks here who are your friends. You are not walking this journey alone. We are right by your side. It's always so easy to share in someone else's glory but real friends will also share in your grief and pain. Some of your best and most loyal friends are found right here at Track Forum and within the racing community.

    God bless you.

Godspeed Kenny and my most sincere condolences to his family. I too, like many of you, agreed with many of his positions on these forums. But unlike Kenny, I do not possess the gift of presenting an argument so elequently. He will be missed immensely.

    from Indystar:

    Allison, Kenneth Lee
    September 10, 2005

Kenneth Lee Allison, Kenny, beloved husband, son, father, friend and race fanatic, passed away suddenly Thursday, September 8, 2005. Kenny was loved by all who were lucky to have known him and our lives will never be as colorful without his smile. He started working while still at Northwest High School as a D.J. for Indianapolis radio station W.I.F.E. Branching out, his career path ran parallel to everything racing. He promoted, managed and marketed several race team.s He was the executive director of the 16th Street Speedway and was well on his way to building his own race track when death took him far too early. Kenny felt deeply for others in need and organized charity auctions of ‘500' race memorabilia for several years, benefitting Riley Hospital for Children and the Indiana Children's Wish Fund. The people he left behind include his beloved wife, Michelle "Shelby" Baker-Allison; children, Nikki and Valerie Allison; his mother, Lee Allison; and his dog, Danny. He was preceded in death by his father, Orville Allison. Special buddies include Jimmy Immke and Tyce Carlson. Memorial visitation will be Saturday, September 10 at the Conkle Funeral Home, Speedway Chapel, 4925 West 16th Street, with calling from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Children's Wish Fund andor the American Red Cross for the Hurricane Katrina victims. A second gathering will be held later, the date and time to be announced.

This thread was printed, bound and placed all around the funeral home. It obviously meant a lot to Kenny's friends and family.

Just now read this for the first time.

Heywood and I always butted heads, but in the end, I always knew he had the best interest of people at heart, as I hope he always knew that about me too.

    Godspeed, Heywood.

Just returned to see this sad news.

I always admired Heywood for his tenacity and willingness to slug is out (verbally) with some pretty formidable foes.

Wish I'd had a chance to meet him.

Words fail at times like these.
This must be excruciating for his family. My heart any prayers are with them.
Thanks, Heywood, for your friendship. Let us also be reminded of how tenuous the things we think of as permanent really are. Live every day, fellow TF'ers.

Just read this for the first time, and im at a loss. I noticed his absence, and i wish it was for other circumstances. This has been a tough year on the TF crowd.

I wish his family all the best.

Boy I feel late in saying this, but I didn't read it until now. So sorry.

My prayers are with his family now. Too soon to move on from life. Too soon.

Now TD's sig line makes sense. RIP Big Kenny.

I wish I'd seen this sooner, the thread posted at the funeral should have been longer - Heywood's posts were always very special to me. I'm sure if I'd ever met him in person we'd have got along quite well.

This is quite a surprise. Shock, I guess is a better word.
    It's a brand new day.

I feel real bad for the loss of Heywood. I know we butted heads on various political topics, but all-in-all...I liked him. Hard to believe that he's gone. Been busy at work, but self-reflected on Heywood's passing. Just another reminder of how short life can be. Always tell your loved ones you love them.

My deepest condolences to the friends and family of Kenny Allison.

    Good Speed Kenny.

Let's add Lenny Calinoff to that group. Make it a trio.

Wanna know what's wrong with NASCAR? They've gone from Junior Johnson to Jimmie Johnson.

Wanna know what's wrong with IndyCar? It's gone from dirt ovals to street races.
