    NASCAR, the team owners, sponsors, tracks, drivers and fans have so far donated far more than the amount of RG’s fines.

    It's over 9 mill now, this has to be a hoax, right?
    No one is going to pay 9 mill for a helmut. For 9 mill you could have your name on the car next season.

    I doubt it is a hoax. The current bidder is a middleman for memorabilia stuff, and may be brokering it for Bill Gates or some high dollar guy who wants to help out.
