He certainly doesn't seem to handle Talladega pressure very well; not that many people do of course. But why on earth you would start that stuff so early on is beyond me.

Not at all, but the race was 500 miles. Sometimes a little early discretion goes a long way towards a better finish.
I missed that interview. All I saw was the slow motion footage of just before the accident and no one was in the back of Johnson.
I didn't take Junior's comments as a confession. Neither did the tv crew, who noted that Junior didn't get into Johnson.
Just glad that Kenseth got through ok, since this happened right next to him.
One thing I'll never understand. When Dale Earnhardt used to punt people out of the way, it was fine because he was "The Intimidator" and "Rubbin's Racin". Now when Jimmy Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, and Kevin Harvick do it everyone throws a fit.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Dale ever started a "big one" at a restrictor plate track. I remember him getting hurt in one at Talladega in 1996, but contact between Irvan and ? (can't remember who) started that particular one.
The 42 was blocking like a madman, the 38 had to roll out of it to keep from hitting him.
The closing speed of the 17, 48 & 8 was obvious that the 38 had to slow down to keep off the 42.
Not much the 48 could do.

I remember Dale Sr taking a few drivers out. Marlin got spun (but didn't hit anything or anyone else) in a twin 125 at Daytona and Terry got spun at Bristol that time on the last lap.When Dale Earnhardt used to punt people out of the way, it was fine because he was "The Intimidator" and "Rubbin's Racin". I guess the difference is that Dale Sr would pick and choose the times he used the "chrome horn."
Dale Sr didn't just punt cars a few laps into a race and cause a big wreck.
Intentionally hitting another car is never a good thing and I don't condone it. But I don't remember Dale Sr causing massive pile ups.
I like Johnson,and Newman. Earnhardt Sr. was a chump!
