    John Grin's Christmas

John Grin's Christmas is a show which you will not find on any network again this year. It was a 1980's 1 hour version of A Christmas Carol which featured Robert Guillaume in the title role. The highlight for me was Geoffrey Holder's turn as the Ghost of Christmas future. With his basso profoundo laugh, "Ha ha ha ha ha...You HAVE no future." Some of you might remember him from the 7up commercials and Live and Let Die.

I suspect Mr. Guilaumme was given permission to do it as part of signing to continue his popular Bensen character.

Anyway, I looked forever for this gem. And could never find it. Even wrote to the publishing company of Mr. Guillaume's biography. Nothing Nada.

Then one day a jiffy pack arrived. In it was a personalized autographed photo of Mr. Guillaume, and a video tape of John Grin's Christmas. I wrote him a note and assured him he would never see it on ebay.

Now this is a part of our Christmas traditions.

Hey man, I found this through google search for John Grin's Christmas. Last few Christmas I have been trying to find this for my father. See yrs ago when it was on tv he recorded, he loved it and enjoyed , well a yr or two after it was on i accidentally recorded over it and he has missed it since cause they never air it TV. Every Christmas he waits in hopes that one of us have found a copy of it for him and every yr he let down , if you can help me and can get me a copy of this I would be very grateful, just hope you still use this site :/

This poses an interesting ethical question...

"The number of threads by one poster in the OT is getting a little out of hand, IMHO. "
"In the land of freedom we are held hostage by the tyranny of political correctness...If we speak..we say it the wrong way; if we do not speak we are cowards…."

I dont know how to plead for this or how to let you know I have very honest intentions but i know this , MY dad would be happy for once for something he got for Christmas, he has always been hard to shop for and i don't have a whole lot of money this yr at all numb but I love my dad so much to post and ask any where i can think of. I feel so bad all these yrs like what 22 yrs its been now since i taped over his copy of this movie and I don't know what else to say Numb, other then i appeal to the Christmas spirit in you. Im not out for my own gain here but to make my dad happy, heck im about in tears here cause im thinking about how happy this would make him to see this movie again.

Mr. Numb,,, Makes da Big Time....

    Merry Christmas,,, Mr. Numb,,,

I Google'd,,, John Grin's Christmas,,, and guess who shows up,,, YOU...

About the fourth spot down on Google search...

    http://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1...39;s+Christmas

One of my favorite renditions of " A Christmas Carol",,,
is "An American Christmas Carol" with Henry Winkler...
You can find it on a DVD at Amazon, but it's thirty dollars,,,
Thirty dollars, I wouldn't pay thirty dollars, for a DVD of
the "Second Coming Live"... (Unless My Name Was on the List)
But I did find An American Christmas Carol on YouTube in
a ten part series that covers the whole show...

    http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...90l0.1.2.3l6l0

I just watched it a couple of nights ago... Quality is OK, it's a
little pain in the kazoo, as you have to watch it in ten parts, but
it worked fine.... I guess one could down-load the ten clips, and
edit them into a continuous clip, or show....

I just looked on YouTube for John Grin's Christmas, No
Bingo, a couple of Promo Clips, but no bingo for the
    complete show on YouTube...

I found it odd, just how fast your "story" showed up on Google...

    FAST,,,

Great story, good to hear, and glad you got a copy back for your
Dad.... I was a big fan of Robert Guillaume... Benson was just great...

It's a Wonderful Life is on NBC tonight 12/3/2011, but I have the
DVD, so will watch it later...

I am a big fan of the Dickens tale, A Christmas Carol... Disney
just came out with a new version, it not very good, really a
dark and sinister rendition, not suitable for the "Little One's...
For me, too much Computer Generated Graphics, I bet gamer's
would love it... To scary for me,,,

    Big

kakotan, maybe you should write to the, publisher, as mr. numb did
"Each day well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well therefore to this one day for it, and it alone, is life"

But would I get it in time for Christmas tho ? That is the thing i want this to be a awesome Christmas Present for my dad. See I am disabled and my mom and dad has let me live with them for the last 9 yrs with out rent or any payment. Its rough sometimes but they are always there for me. I can write the publisher I guess but who is it? Was it the publisher of a book or was it his agent ? Im not sure what mr Numb looked up if he can share that I can try to do something.

As far as I can tell this isn't going to be much help, but IMDB is a good resource for researching old films and TV shows. Search around on this link and you might find some ideas of where to look next:

Of the Google searches that Numb pops up on this is probably the least frightening.

I say we don't help him unless he can pass a 10 question quiz about the Indy 500.

You know I thought i would come here and maybe someone nice would finally help me after all these yrs, i made a request on youtube for someone who said they had a copy but its wasn't that great of a copy but is still view-able cause it was recorded off tv. That person replyed and was nice enough to offer to send me a dvd copy that probably not the greatest but ill still be able to make my dads Christmas with that even if no one here wants to help, im not in this for my self and im not out to put anything on YouTube as numb has clearly implied , i was here to help my dad get something he has wanted for yrs for Christmas and some one nice and generous is gonna help me make that dream come true for my dad, im sorry that you have no trust in anyone and think im only here cause im trying to make some personal gain and to imply that is total BS. Either way I hope you all have a good Christmas and maybe find someone to help this yr, that's the true meaning of Christmas.
Given these accusations you really don't deserve a reply---civil or otherwise.
But let me make this as clear as possible as you have somehow Carnacked my implications from one sentence and a website address.

I treasure my copy of John Grin.
But what is more is that I treasure the trust placed in me by Mr. Guilaume who for whatever reason has not released it to the world.
Probably has something to do with ABC because the production of this work is not even mention on Mr. Guillaumes website.
So I wrote him years ago and promised his work would not turn up on eBay or elsewhere.
It is a copyrighted work which is not for sale anywhere.
As long as I do not distribute it I can keep that promise.

The fact is I do not know you. And not trusting a total stranger who pops up on the internet is not rocket science.
You may be completely honest and sincere.
You may be a complete fabrication.
    But it does not matter.
Because in the end John Grin is not mine to give.
    It belongs to Mr. Guillaume.

    Fa-la-la-la-laaa

Did you hand write him or send him a email type message like you can do on his website ?
I am sorry Mr Numb that i lashed out yesterday, I am just frustrated that i have found a way to fulfill my dads dream but it is out of my grasp. I shouldn't have said those things and since edited out. I really am not in this for any gain other then my dad being happy and that's it and i hope the copy I am getting is good enough for my dad to enjoy.
