    PC vs Powerbook?

I'm heading back to school via an online format and need to buy a new laptop. I'm very comfortable with the PC environment, but have been impressed with the Apple laptops. Who here has gone through this and what did you decide and why? Thanks in advance for your input.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security

If you go apple, bone of on your DOS knowledge. Software is written to a specific version as I understand it and you could be operating several versions on the OS to accomodate your different software.

Others here love their MAC's so I let them explain further their experiences pro or con.

Buy an Intel Mac and run dual-boot Windows and Mac OS

I just bought a very nice Powerbook 3400c on Ebay...paid $135 for it and it came with 3 batteries, a dual battery charger, and sleep-swappable floppy, CD, and Zip drives. 2 GB HD, 80 MB RAM...a sweet little machine which replaces a couple of 190s that finally gave up the ghost after years of faithful service.

The 3400 was the forerunner to the G3 PBs...runs OS 9 if you want, handles Office 98 or 2001 if you can deal with the bloat. Got a built in modem and ethernet, so DSL is not out of the question. If you're not averse to used machines it's a pretty good choice.

Wouldn't a 5300 be more appropriate..... to go with your username?
