Quite a start, never seen a car taken for a ride quite like that!

Hope he's O.K.
Good grief
1958 - Eddie Johnson - Bryant Heating and Cooling Special.
And so it began!
I am extremely concerned for Seabass. If PT's spinnng wheel hit him, it could be very serious.![]()

A decent finish by Wilson and he's right up near Bourdais at the top of the points. After 4 wins, that's incredible.
PT says he can get by the first 5 or 6 in the 'first little bit'
LAP 8
The Newman Haas Team is reporting that Bourdais is ok. He may have a hand injury but is not otherwise complaining of any issues.

That was really close to being fatal.
He kani 'ano 'e loa kela. Ua 'ai nui anei 'oe ma ke kakahiaka?
These yellow laps should ensure everybody is good on 2 stops.
Curious to see if PT and AJ overdrive the car. I can see them cruising thru the field, but wouldn't be surprised to see them spin once or twice either.
I think your right. The roll bar wasn't much help when the car landed in front of it.Originally Posted by R_Mears_Fan
Ugly wreck, sounds like an awesome outcome. Let's hope.
Definitely. As strong as those two are, they need to be careful with some of the lower guys.Originally Posted by Race Dork

Stupid weather!
Can't I watch the race without getting an update for something that's two hours away?
Why stop now? The leaders who stopped still need to stop twice more.
wtf?
Boy, that didn't take long.
Now, what is the pit strategy like?
PT and AJ should stop around 40 and 70, most of the others around 55 and 85.
very rough guesses, and potentially very much incorrect (fwiw)!
AJ's lead now 10 seconds.
wonder how fast PT would have been had he remained earthbound
Methinks Forsyth could die happy right about now.

Yep. Hard to see that coming.![]()
when you're the "meat" in a 3 car sandwich and coming to a corner the wise decision is to back off .... especially on 1st lap
... unlike most years past they mostly made it thru turn 1 - of course then they commenced wrecking in T2 and T3 - I guess that is progress![]()
Cleveland is the widest, open, track that they race on - and yet they have more wrecks and accidents than almost any other venue
I'll probably get bashed for saying so - but these drivers have little respect for each other - they are gonna make positions anyway they can - even if it means wrecking someone else - they just take foolish and very low percentage chances - instead of "racing" - setting up a driver for a clean pass - they force the issue - a high speed game of chicken - and the series lets them get away with it
when you have a track with the years of history of 1st lap wrecking like CLeveland, the series should be telling drivers if they make contact during 1st lap they are going to be penalized ... agression is one thing but a multi-year history of wrecking, on the widest track they run on, is pretty inexcusable
its also dangerous - sooner of later someone is gonna get seriously hurt ... Seabass sounds OK - but if Tracy was a few inches towards front of his car this might be a really bad day .....
I will say that turn one is a lot tighter than it looks, but people were way to agressive after that. It's amazing that only one car was taken out by the mess.
keep in mind Seb went off in front of PT, so PT had little choice but to gain on him (at least momentarily).
that being said, these guys need to dial it back on lap 1 a notch. If you're 'Joe Fast-dude' like you may think you are, you'll pass those fellas eventually.
It's getting close on time. Are they going to cut it down?
Wow. Too bad for Phillipe.![]()
Man, this course is really tough on the suspension.
That should do it for AJ. The yellow laps should enable him to finish, Tags has to pit, and AJ is faster that everybody left by a ton.
2 wins in what, 10 days of employment? Not bad.
(hope I'm not jinxing him!)
They won't finish, but I don't think that will impact the fuel situation. They should still wind up running more than Tags has in the tank.
Not that AJ wouldn't just drive away from him anyway.
I'm surprised the crew chiefs who are worried about milage aren't realizing it's going to be a timed race.
Go figure. Dan really pushed it too hard.
Congrats AJ!
