Thread: San Jose GP race funding to be cut?

San Jose GP race funding to be cut?

The new mayor was one of the guys that voted against the 4 million dollar handout. I think this time around they're going to look real good and hard at the numbers bandied about by the promoters of this race.

Huh, imagine that. Politicians acting in the communities best interest by reducing funding to boon-dogles like the San Jose GP and using he funding instead to improve parks and recreation. KK must not have paid protection to the new Mayor yet.

For the record, I never had a problem with CART in 1995. Its when they turned beligerant twards IMS and their fans for supporting the IRL that turned me off them.

DD, seriously, I'm gonna keep saying it.

IF YOU CANNOT STAND CCWS SO MUCH, WHY DO YOU KEEP COMMENTING ON IT?

San Jose is a crap track, and I won't shed a tear when its gone. But this constant pee-on-CCWS that you and a handful of others here do is borderling infuriating.

Nobody is forcing you to come into the Biz forum Brent. I don't get what's so infuriating about a checkbook comment. Does it hurt because its true?

    My viewpoint, from another thread....

''One sponsor is pointless. The series, IMO, has become pointless. The sooner they fold the tent, the sooner we move forward, not matter how slowly.

With CC continuing to limp along, we move backwards. Don't mistake me, I want CC done and gone and have no problems saying so. Despite the fans that love the series, CC is bad for open-wheel in America.''

He doesn't like them. So ignore him because his views are tainted because of his dislike, however in this case he's actually correct, if they want to keep the race without City help, they will have to raise ticket prices, or someone will have to write a check.

Agreed. And I watch CC so, you know, I would miss the extra OW races I get to see. But four years ago when KK bought up the corpse of CART I said that the only thing it was going to do was drag this thing out, limping along for the foreseeable future. I was partially right. I figured that if they were going to go through all of the bother of "saving" CART & all of it's traditions at least they were going to maintain a diverse schedule. Little did anyone know that they were going to turn into the "Festival of Speed" series, dumping all ovals and worrying about the drifters more than they were about the circuits they raced on.

I make no apologies for riding CCWS. They deserve it. They do it to themselves.

Have you been to the track? there's one problem area which was addressed in 2006, the rest of the circuit was quite fast and fairly wide. From Atlantic teams prospective it's actually a good event, good location and amenities. There isn't a track out there that hasn't had some form of renovation on a problem area.

If the CC teams wanted to race any ovals they would move to the IRL, what's stopping them?

Most of them already did and I was told at least one current CC team owner called TG very recently. Probably checking on Super Bowl tickets.

Much to your dismay, and thanks to the continuing futility of the club series of your choice, that won't be a problem this year.

Indy is the tourist haven in January Detroit was the last cold weather game we're gonna. Indy has no chance of winning the bid.

As Ganassi, Penske, Rahal, Fernandez, and Green have demonstrated, not much.

For those sticking around, Its because A) They own the series B) They Hate TG (Newman) or C) They don't have the money to compete

When you can pick up a new 2002 Dallara and spares for 50K I don't think $$$ is the problem.

Uh, Its costs a good 3-5 mil more to run in the ICS than OWRS. You know that. Your comments are beginning to become laughable.

"Detroit was the last cold weather game we're gonna." Gonna what? I suppose grammer isn't a strong suit up there in BC, or perhaps its a bit too much of the BC bud thats gone to your brain. I guess what you're refering to was the Super Bowl bid. This is a completely different subject than the CC train-wreck at San Jose, but I bet it would really chafe your hide to know that Tony George will have a hand in bringing the Super Bowl to Indianapolis if or when it happens.

Bingo. He has no problem with Indy hosting the Super Bowl. He has a problem with TG being involved. He's obsessed with TG. Its quite sad, actually.

2003 Dallara is as far back as you can go. I think they even redesigned the nose in 04. 50k?? link?

CCWS can't afford crash damage on ovals. That's why it is turning into these 3 day street festivals....
