MIKE POTEKHEN FINISHES SECOND FOR SEASONS’S BEST RESULTS FOR THE ROAD RUNNER 100 AT THE MILWAUKEE.
Milwaukee, WS — Following a frustrating Freedom 100 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway where another driver's error ended his storybook run, Mike Potekhen was determined to leave the Milwaukee Mile with a finish that showed the strength of the rapidly improving Apex Racing team.
Starting fourth in the twenty-two car field, Mike was confident that he had another car that could win. Once again the race started with a yellow flag on the first lap, this time Mike was not involved fortunately. Mike quickly moved in to second place with an aggressive outside pass on Jonathan Klein, a position he maintained throughout the remainder of the race.
Potekhen was able to reel in leader and eventual winner Alex Lloyd in the final laps, closing the gap by nearly seven seconds, but settled for a strong second place finish. For the Phoenix, Arizona based driver this result well earned.
“It was a good performance today. After the frustrations of last week, it felt good to be competitive today. It’s too bad we couldn’t win, but I am happy for our sponsor TRACares Foundation and for the efforts of Apex Racing”
In only the fifth race of the season, the results for Mike Potekhen and Apex Racing have steadily improved. The second place finish was a career best in the Pro Series for both Potekhen and Apex.
The next race on the Indy Pro Series schedule will take Mike back to Indianapolis to race on the road course of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as part of the United States Grand Prix event. The Liberty Challenge is a double race weekend with full 100 mile races on both Saturday June 16th and Sunday June 17th.
