    Dead Cats

A cat decided that our front lawn was to be its final resting place yesterday.
With my love's admonition, "Not in our trash can" ringing in my ears, I bagged it and deposited it in a commercial dumpster.

Is this the accepted way of dealing with such a situation?
Most of us have not had to deal with anything larger than a bird, skunk or possum, right?

Note to Media Boy: This is meant as a general question and not a specific obituary opportunity.

In town or out of town? Here in beautiful and civilized Olathe, Kansas, they prefer you call Animal Control and allow them to properly tend to the corpses of felines, canines, etc...

    Cool

Most communities have an Animal Control dept. for this. Though for a small animal like a cat (<13 lb) I'd just grab a shovel and bury it myself.

cn: Miss Mittens was alive and well in your front lawn when I left her. So, this is another cat you're talking about, right? Right? Is there anything you need to tell me?

Ok, I don't think this is possible, but just in case the feline you're referring to IS Miss Magnificent Mittens (and I'm sure it's not...right?!?), we have already pre-paid for a funeral and I have 50% down on the fur-lined casket.

But everything is ok, right? Right? Right?

I told you to keep her out of our yard.
If I told you once I told you a thousand times.
I even offered to buy you a box and some litter.
    But would you listen?
    Huh?
    Nooooooooooooooooo....

BTW: Thanks for the loan KnockOff.

Numb, as long as you slung the cat into the dumpster with the proper show of respect and reverence for the situation, you did the right thing.

Why didn't you just dig a hole in the yard and bury it!?
As a "Cat Mommy", I don't take kindly to just slingin' "the kids" in the trash or on some compost heap

(and before any of you start in on me, we had dogs before that....and we consider our animals to be part of/members of the family...so there! )

You should have pinned a suicide note to it and called PETA demanding to know how they could have let the troubled feline fall thru the crack in their system.

So what happens when the neighbor kids come knocking, asking if you have seen Fluffy, their lost feline friend?

you all are a bunch of cat hatin pricks

Seriously, bring it over to dad's Under the Bing Cherry Tree Pet Cemetery on my folks backyard. Dozens of Neighborhood pets (all walks, hops and swims) are buried there. If Pastor Chris is home next door he'll even say a few kind words for the owner (and the pet I guess).

Simply tell them the truth. "Mommy got tired of asking you to clean out the litter box so...."

    "Dead Cats"

Sounds like it could be a part of an old Roger Corman movie.

It's a well known car-care tip that if you put a dead cat on the top of your freshly washed car the birds won't drop their business on it.
