Earl was the true owner of the nickname "The Flyin' Hawaiian"... he was the hardest working guy I have ever met.

I can't remember the number of times he'd spend a couple days at my place and just work in my office overnight... I'd go to bed at 9pm and wake up the next morning and he'd still be working...

He was truly one of a kind...

No doubt. I was seriously thinking of staying home this year, but I read of Earl's plans here, and said, "Well, if Earl's going in his condition, I GOTTA GO!!"

Someone once said about a friend that passed "... has taken the checkered flag".

I like that. My father died last year, and I wanted to find a small checkered flag to put on his grave. You can rest now - you have taken your final checkered flag. You fought hard during the race of life, and you showed courtesy and respect for others during the race. You have earned your final resting place. Rest now, in honored glory.

Wow, I'm just stunned. Didn't know Earl well as much as I have good friends that knew him well. I've met him a few times and was lucky enough to say hello as he was wheeling his way in to the Media Center at the Speedway just a few days ago. It felt good to see him there knowing what he had been going through. He had a little grin when I saw him that made me smile - a bit of a "you can't keep me down" smirk.

Godspeed Earl. To live with a passion and to make many friends like you did is something everyone should be so lucky to do in their short time here.

I am stunned, as well..and terribly saddened. Just cannot believe it....

Thanks for the visit we had a couple years ago, Earl. You're already missed, and will remain so.

Say hello to Ralstin, Lenny and everyone for us, friend - til we meet again.

Sincere condolences to Earl's family and friends

His condition was worse than most knew. He kept a pretty good lid on how bad his cancer had spread the last year or so? I knew but the way he conducted some of our work, I just never thought anything or anyone could stop him?

Now he is gone and its shocking. We designed a special car (which in do time will post for everyone to see) but his Mom wants to get it and get things settled. Its his whole life on on race car, and I knew we were running out of time but I was so stoked after I talked to him last night because I had told him it was done and I was going to clear it and ship it. Then this morning I find out he passed in his sleep.

His family is very sad but I felt a bit of relief in Moms voice because this has been a long miserable last few months for her and the one wish she had was he not suffer anymore, and going in his sleep was the best case scenario.

If anyone on here knows where his storage unit in Hawaii is please contact me at chapparrel@msn.com. He has a huge oil can collection and they wanna get rid of it for one and not get a huge bill come months down the road from a storage company.
More road and street courses please! Thank You :worship:
