h, I know what it means...

But apparently there are many who don't, based on some of the responses lately. Why don't the mods put a sticky on the forums explaining it with links to all of the topics over the years?

You say you know what it means, but then you don't tell us. You're such a tease.
For the record, I never had a problem with CART in 1995. Its when they turned beligerant twards IMS and their fans for supporting the IRL that turned me off them.

I requested the same thing a day or so back, in another forum. It's getting annoying when people ask on every thread.

In Japanese, H is used, possibly as an abbreviation for "hentai" (perversion), to mean "naughty" or "dirty", as in "H game" (pornographic computer games) or "H suru" (meaning "to have sex"). Through the popularity of anime (Japanese animation), this meaning has become known to fans in the west. H is normally pronounced as "eichi" in Japanese, but when used with these sexual connotations, it is often pronounced as "etchi".

Personally, I think we should be using the letter "W".

To clarify once again... "h" began as a filler for a poster who tried to delete his own thread only to find that it was impossible. Since the post needed some character, this poster arbitrarily hit h.

That thread grew to epic proportions, as only TrackForum threads seem to be able to do.

Over time, h has taken on a more fuller meaning, essentially becoming synonymous with "I don't really care," or "Whatever." However such a simplistic definition does not do justice to all that h has come to mean.

    h

We should really look further at this little letter. When we post an "h", do we mean the English "h", pernounced a-tch with a long "A". Or is not the Spanish "h" more appropriate, because in the Spanish language, the "h" is silent.

    Food for thought.
After years of fighting and a split, guess what, we are all IndyCar

October will always be a sad racing month for me. RIP Greg and Dan. You both were great and we miss you.

Don't forget that even though they are pronounced the same, TF's "h" is not related in any way to Matthew Aitch, one of the original Indiana Pacers from 1967....

??? No need to correct me. I'm not sure why you need to post a smart*** remark to a joke you obviously can't relate to. Or is that just your thing.

The actual definition was a ways back. After that, it sort of drifted into never-never land. Not sure it is worth this many postings...

    No.

However, it could be used in reponse to someone blaming the cold on global warming, if your viewpoint supports a contradictory opinion.

I made the mistake of delting a post today. Since I had to have at least one character in the empty post I used 'h' since I had seen it in posts.

I was told by a heavy post counter that I had "no right" to use h as I didn't have enough posts.

    Imagine that.

So exactly how many posts do you have to have before you can use 'h'?

If Mister "h" hisownself says it's so, it's so. You ought to feel free to post "h"s all you like, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise.
