    Rangers 30 - Orioles 3

Most runs ever for an MLB team since 1900.

    Unreal!

I just saw that on MLB.com

Too bad it wasn't the Dallas Cowboys 30, Baltimore Ravens 3. Chris would be having a stroke (if he isn't having one now about the O's and foreign drivers dominance).

Those 30 runs were all scored in four (non-consecutive) innings.

    Sick!

With that bullpen, it sucks to be an Oriole fan period. To me, having the bullpen lose a lead and then lose the game are the worst losses.

Peter Angelous has ruined what was once one of the cornerstone franchises of the American League.

The Orioles of the late 60s,70s and 80s are ancient history to what is now a team that resembles Tampa Bay. And it's sad.

I used to like those guys.

Just 4 short days after getting blanked in MINN 1-0, where we featured 19 SO's.

Rudy Jaramillo's "diaherrea hitting" strategy. We had 26 a couple of years ago the same way.

    We suck.

Angelos has played a major role in the decline of the Orioles but the decline happen well before he bought the team..

The last World Series championship came in 1983.. After 1983, injuries and old age caught with the team.. The management at the time decided to focus on the free agent market (Fred Lynn, etc) well that didnt work and thus the minor league system was in shambles..

In 1988 the team when in the toilet losing the first 20 some games.. The team decided to dump all the veteran players for 1989 and go with youth.. That season was the "Why Not" year when the Orioles stunned the nation and almost took the AL East.. They lost the division in Toronto when my favorite player of all time Gregg Olson blew a save.. The next day Baltimore native Dave Johnson stepped in for the injured Pete Harnish who stepped on a nail and pitched the game of his life.. (This was the last NBC Saturday baseball game of the week broadcast) Despite the great performance the Orioles lost and lost the division..

That year proved to be a fluke and struggled for the next two seasons..

In 1992, the Orioles moved into Camden Yards and while the Orioles were competitive the ownership wouldnt spend the money needed to get the team to the next level..

Angelos bought the team in 1993.. He started spending money and his efforts were rewarded with two ALCS appearances in 1996 and 1997.. The 1997 season the Orioles won the AL east going wire to wire..

After the 1997 season Angelos had a despute with manager Davey Johnson and they parted company.. Since then the team has struggled.. For the next two years Angelos was spending as much as the Yankees but wouldnt find the right players for a winner.. Then Albert Belle got injured and since then Angelos has been unwilling to spend the money needed to compete..

All is not lost.. The Orioles have a great bunch of very talented players and i personally dont believe they are that far away..

Erik Bedard is in top five best pitchers in baseball right now and might win the Cy Young this season..

Brian Roberts in a two time all star and is the teams best position player

Nick Markasis is in his second year and is proving to be a star

Rookie Jeremy Guthrie might win the rookie of the year award as his pitching has been great..

So in summary alot of the recent issues with the Orioles were Angelos's fault but the root of the problems with the Orioles are much deeper and go back to 1984..

The score would have been 31-6 but the Orioles missed a field goal and the Rangers had an extra point blocked.

Wow! NBC last had the game of the week 18 years ago! It doesn't seem that long.
