Why not call this the Whiner Forum?

    It would be more appropriate.

Don't like it? Don't watch and don't hang out here.

    Seems pretty simple to me.

That's your problem, TD, always being negative about whiners. They have the right to their opinions too! If you don't like what they say why don't you just not read it? Gawd. Sheesh.

There needs to be a forum called The Snake Pit, completely unmoderated save for Federal law stuff, and only those 18 and older can enter. Whining, backbiting, conniving, shouting, hatred, anger, love, passion...whatever...as long as it somehow relates to racing.
    THIS...IS...OPEN-WHEEL!!!

It already exists. That's not what TF is about, however, as I understand it.

This forum is a great idea! The P&M'ing polluting the ICS forum got old a long time ago. So put it all in here, another forum like the NASCAR and CC ones, that I will rarely visit. Thanks, Mods!

I agree exactly ... TrackForum is a place for rational, reasoned and intelligent discussion and civil debate .....

and in hindsight we shouldn't call this forum the "whiners" forum either - this is TrackForum, and within the rules all are entitled to their opinions ... trying this route - and at this point it IS an experiment - follows our path in other instances - where we try to give certain segments of membership a place to discuss topics they are inetrested in, without disrupting others use and enjoyment

the negativity and complaints - while legitimate to those making them - were affecting the use and enjoyment of the majority of members who are fans of the series - warts and all

now there is a place for those not happy with the direction of the series to express and discuss their concerns - here ...

Provided you're not a fan of that series.

seems pretty simple, you are trying a back handed way to try and censor people from saying whatever they want wherever they want

Not true...one can say most anything about NASCAR and CCWS...to remind the faithful about what was said years ago about CART is unwelcome however...

How is it censorship if a forum to air disagreements with the series is provided?

and therein lies your problem - we do not allow people to say "whatever they want whenever they want" ..... we have community standards and rules that we expect all to follow

The following, from the IRL forum obviously meets the standards...

"People don't care where you're from, they care about what type of person you are. I guarantee , you'd be able to relate and be more comfortable shooting the **** with Scott Dixon than you would with Jeff Gordon. Gordon is about as real as Michael Jackson. He's one good nose job away from living in the "Neverland Ranch" and having pillow fights with teenage boys"

Comparing Gordon to Jackson seems a bit over the edge to me...but, I don't set the standards...

    did you report it howard?

same answer - did you report them?

and if you'd read the comments - this forum was intended to try to help address the issue of negativity affecting the enjoyment of fans who still like teh series

then we must not have considered them a problem - since at least 4 mods and admins get every report to mod

First - while I have argued with you several times, I don't think it has been personal. It shouldn't be and I shouldn't do it. (Unless I'm returning fire )

Second - perhaps if you (and others) stopped referring to anyone who disagrees with you as a "new" fan that would help. Personally, I have become sick of people saying that anyone who doesn't agree with certain posters is new to the series. Many of us have been fans since long before the series began and were not CART fans once the split occurred. I have always watched whatever series raced at Indy in May (Not having cared a lick about sports-politics until the split, I've always considered the series at Indy to be IndyCars).

Many like me, wanted nothing to do with the bickering but still watched the racing. Just because we weren't on internet forums posting about it doesn't mean we didn't watch. Newer to TF does not mean new to watching the IRL.

Finally Chris (again I'm not trying to make it personal - I've just read your age in other posts and you are one of those who makes the "new" comments) I find it annoying to be told that my opinion is just part of the new breed by someone who wasn't born when I started watching the 500.

Edit to add - one thing I will admit to that I know is considered to be a trait of "new" fans is that I was really happy when Penske and Green returned. To me, based on who I watched growing up, it was great to have Andrettis and Penske back in the fold. I knew at the time that many were unhappy but to me it just meant everything was rounded out again. It somehow just seems right having them around in May (and the rest of the year).

Chris - I didn't think you were specifically referring to me, but I do know we have disagreed several times. I'm sometimes good at pushing the line a bit and have to watch it from time to time.

I just wanted to mention the old/new fan thing and why I think it is way to simple of a way to classify fans. Many of us don't fit into either side, based on how they are typically represented here.

Thanks, DIA, crew, rev, others. Negativity is spoiling the sport. Keep it here.
