When is it going to end

All this BS that we FANS have been subjected to in the past years, since g-damn 1996. Split. Hatred. Ovals, Road courses, festivals of speed. Fake weekend attendance. PR hyperbole. Exodus of our stars, the racers we supported. Watching rich, egomaniacs ruin our sport. Watching emasculated cars. Watchign blank sidepods or sidepods spoiled by second-rate BBQ sauces. Beign told that races where drivers hold the accelerator for 20 laps at a time are races. Following races on ESPN Ocho or Classic or whatevet the hell it is. Chicanes. Effin middle age, male cheerleaders. IPOs and lawyers. Spec engines and spec chassis and spec brains. Female drivers and adult websites in paddocks. Tony George giving Bernie E. the cold shoulder. Honda winning the500. Marco Andretti nearly winning the 500 (twice). Races at Palm Beach, Orlando, Dodger Stadium. No races at Michigan, California, or Brands Hatch . No Shell. No Marlboro. No KOOL. No PPG. No FedEx. No Western Union. No Greg Moore. No Zanardi. No Unser Jr. No desire to watch Nascar. Hoping for a merge. A reunion. A return to sanity. Rumors. Robin Miller's crap. Cant we all just get along. Cant we all just move on... Because I can't take much more of this. I can't.

Is this the first Rapper we've ever had posting on TF? Maybe with a separate Hip Hop forum we'd attract more.

    It's not ending, it's changing.

It's changed from open-wheel, rear engine cars, to "spec" racers with fenders, engines in front, and plenty of sponsorship.

Tomorrow's race in Phoenix will feature three Indy 500 winners, including one former F1 World Champion. Same track, same drivers, different cars.

USA racing is alive and well. Everything changes, but it stays the same, too.

It's the drivers, not the machinery.

Why don't cannibals eat clowns? They taste funny.

What the heck is wrong with that?

It's the best thing that TG has ever done!

I hope more venues start tossing F1 out

The only problem I see is that of we had one series we could destroy F1 hands down. They never have been more vulnerable amongst the existing fan base.

IMO the reason his fees have gotten so out of hand is because he basically has a monopoly.

Is this PUI (posting under the influence)?

Races in Richmond, Iowa, Kentucky, and Nashville are going to trump the international venues, massive corporate participation and worldwide TV audience of F1?

You might get more Americans to watch the IRL than F1, but kicking Bernie out of IMS hardly matters in that.

F1 is not at IMS because TG was bidding against the Indian government and he saw little reason to bring city, state of federal subsidies into it. He's almost certainly right. He might have gotten some dollars, but he was going to be outbid anyway.

Politically Americans are willing to spend billions of tax dollars on stick and ball stuff, but having an F1 race anywhere in the US is less important to Americans than it is to developing countries looking for a little newfound status and respect.

Actually, I don't know what damage it does to the US in terms of world opinion that we reject what the world considers the top form of motorsport and instead prefers a dumbed down, spec, oval racing series with a ******* heritage. It probably gets tossed in with what the world think of our current choice of President. (don't go there).

...passionate open-wheel race fan + internet message board + beer = the next day.

My first Indy 500 was 1973, haven't missed one since 1981. To date I have attended 35 Indy 500's, and probably 100 or so other IndyCar races (CART & IRL).

Two cannibals were having dinner. The first cannibal turned to the second and said "Ya' know, I don't like your sister."

Two canibals were munching on a Missionary. One turns to the other and says, "This tastes horrible - how did you cook him?".

    "I boiled him".

"No wonder it tastes bad - that was a Friar".
