    "Never Mind The Bollocks"

Spun the Pistols for the girlfriend's boys last night. Really good stuff.

Turned my son onto the Pistols a while ago and he was immediately hooked. Couldn't get enough of it. He was a little bummed that he couldn't take the cd with him to school on music day. Didn't want my Honor student running afoul of some stupid rules.

Made myself laugh the other day when I relalized my band has covered at least four Pistols songs over the past 20 years. And we've never been a punk band. IMO it's just pure, raw rock n roll.

They were on Leno this week or last, I'm not sure. My brother caught about two thirds of their appearance. They did "Anarchy" and sounded GREAT, even if John's sneer and phrasing was more PiL than Pistols. He gave a polite greeting to Dr. Ron Paul (Lydon is, needless to say, a Libertarian, and a big supporter) then rubbing his tuckus, he asked, "When are we going to leave Iraq?"

Not a bad performance, all in all. Steve still has the chops, Glen was always a great bass player, and Paul looks no different than he did in 76.

    Funny.

Was watching "American Hardcore" last night on one of the movie channels.

I was 14 (1984) before I started sneaking into the Twilight Room, Circle A, and Theatre Gallery here in Dallas, so I kinda missed the "golden age" of American punk, but still glad I caught the very end.

I was rewarded with the early 90's Dallas music scene.

Saw the Pistols in 96 - met Johnny Rotten in 92. Proud of them that they told the RRHOF to **** off. Would love to see them again.

You and I are the same age. Haven't had a chance to see American Hardcore yet. The one benefit I had when my family moved me from Chicago to Maryland in '84 is that I got to see some GREAT hardcore in DC through the 80's. Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Descendants, Agnostic Front, COC (before they went metal), Suicidal Tendancies on their first tour (it was my first hardcore show ever...original 9:30 Club...still have the shirt!) the list goes on. Back then shows were $5-7 at the door. Now that barely covers the service charge!

Thanks for the link TD!! Aren't they supposed to be touring again for the 30th anniversary?

30 years since the original release and various songs from the album have been hovering in the lower reaches of the chart (downloads count towards chart sales, and airplay is not considered at all - it's pure sales).

    Still an excoriating album.

First heard them when I was 8, Adam Ant said they were a big influence on him in an interview so they played a bit. Then some older cousins had a great delight in playing the sweary stuff to me - and I had great delight in listening to it.

Johnny's a racing fan. Met him at the CART race in Fontana in 1998 and again at the 2004 U.S. Grand Prix.
