If this is true.........then what?
RM speculating about layoffs, selling planes, etc. is somewhat over exaggerated. What company in America right now isn't cutting back? For speculation purposes..........what if Humpy Wheeler is named CEO at IMS?

Huge news if true.
Many will think it's good news; but even though I'm far, FAR from a TG fanboy; it would seem to create a lot of instability that the series doesn't need. |

No faith in Clabber Girl to keep up the Hulman fortune? This is going to be fun.

Wow. That's all...
Not so surprising in thinking about the boards concerns. Many of the racing investments never seemed too smart to me, when thinking of possible rates of return on capital. But it's still real big news! It could be really good for the league, or really bad. And I have no idea which way it would go. Could lead to increased professionalism, as far as running the league like a true business. But I'm not sure if that's good or bad. I think good, but... Well there's part of the problem gone. But he's still involved with the ICS. I say let him keep his "vision" team as a hobby but that's it.
Apparantly there is a limit to the amount of huge disastrous mistakes you can make before someone takes action. Next on the chopping block; Barhart. |

$600,000,000.
To ensure that the Indy 500 would not become a two-weekend event dominated by the same old teams with international drivers. Well, that worked.

I'd take anything that Miller reports specifically as "rumored" with a grain of salt. TG may have stepped down as CEO of the Speedway but that could happen without it being a family coup.

The IRL IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway should be run separately.
It sounds to me that the board of directors are looking at the financials and seeing a separation of running the IndyCar Series and IMS a necessity. I am kind of traditionalist here and have always thought more of the Indy 500 than the series, but understand the need for the series to start making a profit. Instead of investing money in Saturn, it would be nice to let the Captain purchase the entire series or IMS, in my opinion.

This is big. Would Humpy be a decent candidate to run the speedway?

You don't print something like this and not have pretty much all the t's crossed and i's dotted. I am absolutely stunned. How do you get booted by your mother and sisters? Jack surely would have just gone along with what the family wanted. Wow. IbiI |

Absolutely agree and the Humpy Wheeler thing concerns me. I don't want a Nascar guy running the show at Indianapolis. |

Suggestion for the New Management: Form a competent Marketing Department for the Speedway and the League.
